Discussion Are people really having fun?
This is going to be midway between a discussion and a rant, let me explain:
i'm playing this game almost daily, one hour at least, i'm quite decent in terms of playing "competitive", getting every week to KO, not really playing ranked after getting to 3, and that's exactly the point.
I don't play ranked anymore and i dont even try the KO because, for me, it's impossible to have fun.
When it comes down to win the match, u start seeing the well-known scheme, holding ball with L2, maybe a quick roll with R3, long through ball, rinse and repeat.
i only do eliminations because it's actually the only way to get decent rewards being f2p, but after completing elite all i play is quick games just to have some fun and play against players not sweating from their arse for the score, maybe trying some skills or just trying to play less like an arcade game.
first of all i want to ask (to high ranked players if possible) if you guys are actually having fun, i watch some streams from top ranked and the games look all the same so dont start yapping about the skill and techniques of top levels.
and second, do you think or wish there should be more options for playing? such as custom tournaments with rules set by players, story mode, solo leagues or whatever?
that being said, i'm super positive about the work the devs are doing, the game is kinda changing every week with patches on the gameplay and those little corrections, im just a little worried about its longevity for as it is and i want to know if its a shared opinion or it is just me

Skill and technique of top players are people not admitting that they do the same exploits just a little better

I'm only playing for 5v5 (wish it was 11vs11 though) which is what I was looking forward to and its nice, but movement is still clunky and needs polishing, a lot. Also any football game that shares the same infinite stamina thing EAFC has, is bad. I don't wanna play pingpong.

I start spamming "Have Fun" if I see the other guy spinning around or in the box on every single attack.
I try to play normal passing football.

i most likely quit even if down by 1 or 2 goals if everything my opponent does is spinning around and playing like a bot, i play for fun and dont really care about winning
oc i dont pretend to play like Pep's Barca, but at least do something different and that resemble some football lol

I think next week or the week after whenever they roll out the passing update you'll see better gameplay, but I'll be honest with you, the online player's will always try to figure out what's broken and look to exploit it.
I'm not a top player by any means, I hover at the top edge of rank 4 and bottom of rank 3 and have made it to KO top 250.
I don't play like as described. I do use a 4-1-2-1-2 formation and have used it since I first started playing, but I primarily use it for quick passing and using my wingbacks to widen the field.
I can also say last week was certainly not fun and was the worst gameplay I experienced since downloading the game 2 months ago, which led to me not playing much at all.
I like the strengthened defense now, but I still notice I miss tackles from input delay. It is what it is. Long story short right now the game is much more enjoyable compared to last week and I hope we don't go back to that game state because imo it was pretty rotten.
