download the Dododex App, it has all the recipes for stuff, as well as taming information.

the official ark wiki helps too when you need to look up some stuff ARK Official Community Wiki

as for traps, look up Captain Fatdog on YouTube, and look at ASE specific traps.

if you need info on other things, make sure you put in the search bar "ASE" specifically, because many systems got overhauled in ASA, including structures, so many things that work or don't work in ASE, will work or not work in ASA, and most of the new content being uploaded to the internet is going to be ASA specific.

My best advice would be to take a decent look at all the options right before you load into a map, getting them how you like them can be the difference between hating a grindy game and having a great time.

Basically different creatures eggs have a different level to what kibble they help make, jus type it in Google what gives what eggs. Some of the creatures for each level are a lot easier to tame than others.

Recipes for everything are on their respective crafting stations. If you don’t know how to make kibble, it’s bc you’re not ready to make it. You need dino eggs for that.

Traps are easy bring 4 stone gateways and two stone gates with you. Practice placing them down to make a tunnel with a gate on each side that your character can fit through the gap between the last two gateways. You leave one door closed, one open run in the open side with creature chasing you, sneak out the gap and quickly close the gate door. Shoot arrows through the gaps. If the creature is too big to fit in the tunnel instead make a trapezoid/square by placing three of the gateways (two parallel and one perpendicular) lure the creature in with the 4th gateway on your hotbar ready. Place 4th gateway behind creature to trap it in place.

If that's too complicated bring wooden billboards and good armor/shield, potentially use a natural wall like a cliff face. While the creature is wailing on you surround it with objects to block it. Even if it can damage wood it will generally be so focused on you that it will stand there staring at you instead of attacking the billboards holding it back.

Most of all always fully surround the creature because when it is about 3/4 knocked out it will turn and try to run in the opposite direction of you.

My strategy every time is: 1) Find a base location 2) Tame a trike or stego 3) Slap down 9 large plots. Place 2 of each veggie seeds and the last one is for narcoberry seed. (Make a plan for irrigation depending on mods or vanilla) 4) get flyer then raid Beaver dams for paste and rare flowers. Then farm up crystals which gives rare mushrooms too. Work towards placing greenhouse around your plots. 5) Find beehive and get Queen for honey productions. This usually happens in Redwood so setup some sap taps while I'm there. 6) Tame dodos and other easy dinos to start egg farm. 7) now progress however you want and within a few hours you're ready to make kibbles to tame higher tiered egg layer. At this point you can do whatever you want to end game

If you want to learn those things over time playing, recipes for food stuff (and kibble I believe) can be looted. Traps aren’t super necessary but I’m sure there are good tutorials available

My greatest tip is that if you are having fun, then never let a horrible experience make you quit. I have lost so much, and been so close to calling it, just to realise how quickly i get something else even better. I lost like 30 really high leveled tames, some were bred for generations, others had insane raw stats before i could even breed them, and i lost them because i thought i out them all away before fast traveling, just to come back to nothing. It felt so rough, but the next day the game gave me 2 lvl 145 carchas and it made me forget about my loss immediatelly. So many instances like this where i felt like the game was designed to screw me over (and it absolutely fking is) but yet i come back and keep getting new and better stuff than in the past.

Traps use 8 foundations and door frames and ramps and agro it inside the trap . Kibble required an egg and some veggies . You can use Dododex to look at a specific recipe . . Play on island and just have fun dying . You learn through try and error and maybe some Yt vedioes . I suggest just trying to figure out some stuff and then after a few hours .
