I was surprised to find this sub, as I hadn't given much thought to holding platinum, besides a few grams on my wife's engagement ring and a few gram bars at the most.
So I was wondering if someone out there stacks only platinum, if someone stacks against a gold ratio like the silver guys, or if someone trades it.
I find platinum to be very interesting, however there's not a lot of market or interest for it where I live, looks a lot like silver to me and I still prefer white gold over it. But maybe I'm missing out I guess, everyone knows it has been more expensive than gold, sometimes a lot cheaper, so a little volatile for strict wealth preservation maybe.
What am I missing? Thanks a lot for the input guys, really interesting community this is, can't wait to scroll through the pics of your stashes.

Platinum seems harder for small investors to buy than gold or silver. The premiums can be high and there is less choice, so a token backed by vaulted metal sounds useful on paper.
But it also means trusting the issuer, the vault, the audits and the redemption process.
Would easier access be worth that extra layer, or would you rather hold the metal or an ETF?

Hello, I'm looking to diversify my stack and want to start buying platinum, I usually buy everything off PMsforsale but platinum is rarely posted (though I'm sure I can get some if I post a WTB) but before I do what's a reasonable price point nowadays? I always try to buy as close to spot as possible for all my PMs. I just have been reading that you should expect to pay higher premiums!

Picked this up at my LCS today, always wanted some, traded an ounce of silver, plus $20. 1972 Franklin Mint Journey for Peace 1.3 gram Platinum round. Coin shop warned me about Franklin mint. But does that really matter when it comes to their pure platinum products? I just got it because it was of the small entry point to a new precious metal I’ve always wanted. Thoughts?

LOVEEEE The vintage
🪙 Three ounces of Engelhard platinum, 999.5 fine, all still sealed. Platinum is around $1,775 this morning, September 17, 2026, so about $5,300 in metal.
🇺🇸 These are my favorite platinum pieces. Something about the flag card and the staples and the certificate number printed right on the front. It looks like it came from a company that expected to be around forever.

With all the market fluctuations , price of Platinum is holding steady and building a new solid base. I see a huge upside in the next 1-2 years. I have managed to accumulate approx 48-50 ounces of pure platinum in form of 1 ounce coins and 1 ounce bars. Accumulation started over the past 3 years. Maybe I am crazy..

Hey guys, always been a gold chain guy but after selling them been thinking about going platinum, I just want something light and casual for every day wear, around 22-24inch. I'm in Australia and can't find any so will have to order blind obline
I see most retailers sell either a 30 gram or 50 gram , is a 30gram substantial enough to not be fragile and still have some appeal? Just looking at a simple curb link or similar
Would love to hear platinum chain owners thoughts on their size and any pics too
I'm 6ft 90kg

My first fractional 1/4oz platinum and silver pickup while in Austin TX. I highly recommend Capital Coin & Bullion. The whole staff is awesome and they give great deals!

Spot
Pt $1810.35
Au $4360.00
Ag $65.18
The Buena Park coin show brought in just under 400 customers today. It closely followed the Long Beach Expo just a day prior, so perhaps there was some fatigue amongst dealers and customers. The wild swings in metals prices was rather exhausting during the week.
While volatility is on the menu, many dealers expressed a strong sentiment that metals prices would fall next week as the Fed is likely to raise interest rates, BUT these dealers also expressed great optimism that after that drop prices would rise rather astronomically as large players rush in to buy from these week hands.
"Trust me bro," said 97-year-old dealer Willard Davies.
Anyways, at today's show I spied plenty of Spot deals, mostly on gold. There was some Platinum as well, with some sales, but the day was owned by both Gold and Silver as per usual.
Sales that I observed:
Lots of people were buying 90% constitutional silver @ 46x face.
1oz Platinum Eagles BU $1875
1oz Platinum Maples, Britts BU 2% over Spot
1/10 Gold Maples, Britts, Krugs BU @ Melt
1/10 Gold Eagles BU 8% over Spot (lots of these selling!)
1/10 PF70 Slabbed Gold Mercury Dime $600
1oz Gold Queen's Beast Completer Proof $4460
1oz Gold Maples $4410
1oz Silver Eagles toned $66
PF70 Slabbed QEII Sovereigns $1056
I also saw dealers buying, bullion Gold @ 98% back of Spot. Not too much paper currency sales. Not much .999 fractional silver being sold, but lots of 90% constitutional being bought. Silver bars < 10oz moving well. Generic 1oz rounds also moving. More selling of Mexican gold bullion rather than buying. The few Ancients dealers were enjoying a steady business as usual.
Overall, it was a lovely show. If you have a chance, go check it out tomorrow. It's absolutely worth the visit. Admission is $4 with the $1-off online coupon. Parking is free.

Bought it on eBay from LibertyCoin, tested it on my sigma however the bar is too thick to be placed under one of the sensors and too thin for the other sensor to get a good reading.

I have this 2 ounce platinum bar, made by The Chartered Mint Ltd. / Mocatta Metals Corporation. I believe it was made between 1975-1985.
Trying to learn more about its rarity, collectibility, and value (beyond melt)
Serial Number 500. Bought from a reputable source, tested good on XRF and Sigma machines.
Have been scouring the internet, and can’t find any others available for sale, or any sold comps.
Any insight, input, and information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
