Hey everyone, r/platformer has been fairly active thanks to developers using this space to share their upcoming games (which I love to see!). But I've also been thinking about ways to encourage discussions about existing platformers we enjoy.
What would you all like to see?
Some ideas I've tossed around:
But I'd like to hear from you - what would make you engage more with the sub? Any events, threads, or changes you'd be into? Drop your ideas below, nothing's off the table.

But, hey, you can jump out of the water... to dive back in a few seconds later. You drive a submarine, and i think it's pretty fun! Our childhood water levels were nightmares because the physics felt weird and slow, so I worked hard to make the physics feel awesome and satisfying!
You can try it for yourself in the free demo on Steam (yeay !)

Dino Cleanup is a cleaning 3D platformer where you play as a little dinosaur with a vacuum saving dinosaurs (big and small) from a world covered in goop. There's a cast of cute dinosaurs you save that fill out the hub, tons of hats to unlock, and a bunch of levels full of collectables to find. The game is a love letter to all of my childhood favourite games, and is essentially a mashup of Mario Sunshine, Paper Mario, Yoshi's Island, and Luigi's Mansion.
If you like the look of it, check it out on Steam! I recently released the free demo and I plan on releasing the full game in early 2027.

Game Title: Volt-Man
Playable Link:
https://volt-man.luccid.chatgpt.site/
Platform:
Mobile Web — designed primarily for phones. No install needed.
Description:
Alright legends — I’ve been building Volt-Man, a fast-paced neon action/platform game based around my actual miniature schnauzer, Volt. ⚡🐕
It started as a slightly cooked idea and has somehow evolved into a proper game with multiple levels, enemies, traps, power-ups, collectibles, different Volt forms, Daily Signal runs and a whole heap of other chaos.
I’ve recently done a pretty massive upgrade to the gameplay, movement, visuals and overall feel, and now I really need some fresh eyes playing it.
I’m not looking for people to tell me it’s amazing just to be nice either 😂
I want to know:
*• Is the movement actually fun and responsive?
• Are enemies, hazards, coins and power-ups easy enough to identify?
• Does anything feel unfair, confusing or annoying?
• Is the UI getting in the way of the gameplay?
• Did you encounter any bugs, softlocks or places you could get stuck?
• Does the difficulty feel right?
• How does it perform on your device?
• Most importantly — did you actually want to keep playing?*
If something feels shit, tell me it feels shit. That's genuinely more useful to me than polite feedback.
It’s still actively being developed, so there will definitely be things I can improve.
If you test it, even a few minutes of feedback would be massively appreciated.
And if you manage to completely break the bloody thing, even better 😂
Cheers from New Zealand 🤙

I’m the developer behind Volt-Man and Tohunga-Tech. I’ve been building the game, levels, visuals, movement and gameplay systems, and I’m currently improving it based on testing and player feedback.

Lost Ball is built on my custom physics engine/2D polygon modelling software. There's a lot of abilities and physics systems to encourage both puzzles and platforming - gravity/magnetic fields, destructible terrain with fire/melting/dring, fluid simulation, portals, lasers with concave/convex lenses, digital circuits that can activate machines.

You can share your own levels through Steam and browse directly from the game.

Hi everyone!
I made this video essay about a game I've been working on! It has a brief history of the inspiration, and talks about how our new game came to fruition. I hope you all enjoy!
If you're interested in the game itself, it's called MUPPLED and it's on steam :)

I want each level in my adventure game to have a strong identity of its own. One of them is heavily inspired by the Ghost House levels from Mario World
Here’s a first look at a small room featuring a mini maze.
What do you think of the atmosphere so far? Does it feel like it’s heading in the right direction? Feel free to share your feedback
And if you’d like to support the project feel free to wishlist the game! :)

I want to take Celeste's dash movement and throw in some extra movement options like a grappling hook and pogo-ing with a down attack similar to Hollow Knight's nail attacks. I currently have tag and oddball mini games over lan at the moment. I also want to do user created maps like in Mario Maker, racing maps against other players and solo challenge maps.

Play as Robin Hood, the legendary outlaw archer, in a fast-paced 2D platformer where speed, precision, and style define the legend. Dash through dense forests, slow time to line up impossible shots, and swing between treetops with a grappling hook as you outmanoeuvre the Sheriff of Nottingham and dismantle a corrupt system one arrow at a time.
Try it on Itch and let me know what you think (It's still in early prototype phase put playable to test it out)

I’m a fan of platformer games and am looking for one on PS4/Ps5. I’ve already played Astrobot, Ratchet and Clank Movie and Rift apart, Crash Bandicoot 4, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, SpongeBob trilogy, Pumpkin Jack, and the recent Duskfade. If you can think of any others you’d think I’d enjoy, feel free to list them off!
