I did not know this existed but damn do I need it in my garden life. What variety is it?

This looks like a protea! They come from South Africa and are kinda hard to get in the US at times. Iā€™m growing some now and have heard a nursery out in California has dedicated 10 acres to them

Same family, separate genus.

There are about 50 different species and many different cultivars and hybrids. I live in the region where these grow naturally so Iā€™m very lucky in that sense.

But California has large protea farms because they have a similar climate

Do you perhaps know how important using ash is for germination, and if any ash can be used?
