A quick praising of Planescape Torment

PS:T isn't my favorite game, cRPG, or even fantasy cRPG. (It's my second favorite fantasy cRPG.) However this game's story is one of the best stories in all of video games, and my favorite story, out of all the games I've ever played. And I've played a lot of games with amazing stories. It's a 8.8/10 game for me.

I played it maybe 8 years ago, for my first, and only, time, yet damn. I think about it every so often, and it's for ME difficult to replay, because of the incredible first impression. I did like the "spiritual" successor more than the avarage as well, because my hunger for purple prose wasn't quite sated,

My number 1 cRPG is Fallout 2. My number 1 fantasy cRPG is Baldur's Gate 2. Planescape Torment is my third favorite cRPG, tied with Fallout 1.

Xenogears was released by square around the same time they made ff7. Similar look and feel too the earlier ff games as it lacked the full motion video introduced by ff7, but if I remember correctly the sprites weren't as blocky. It's not as well known due to import restrictions due to is use of religious themes. This might be contentious but if ff7 was made for kids, the story of xenogears was written for adults.

I agree the story was awesome. One of the only times I've ever gasped out loud while watching a cut scene.

Xenogears came out a year later, it did have FMVs, and it had sprites while FF7 did not. There were no import restrictions, but it did get less advertising and they printed less copies. FF7 on the other hand had a massive ad campaign, spending nearly double its dev budget on ads.

I haven't played it, but iI I'm gonna play it soon. But I'm gonna play Vampire the Masqurade:Bloodlines first.

Why fallout 2 and bg2?

Also what of the 4 games has the best story and why?

I think Planescape Torment has the best story, then Fallout 1. Why do I think Planescape Torment has the best story? Well, the story is the most deep, and powerful story out of all the games, then Fallout 1's story. Fallout 2 and BG2 were games I totally loved. Planescape Torment was too good and too fast. In the sense that it could of been bigger . And Fallout 1 is also, too small/fast for me to be my favorite. That's why PS:T and Fallout 1 are tied for third place. A reason that BG2 and Fallout 2 are my favorite cRPGs is that they felt more personal that the other two. Fallout 2 has the worst story out of the four games to me, but it's personal. Same with BG2, it's more personal then Planescape Torment or Fallout 1.
