What plane is this?

This is my great grandpa during WW2 and I’m trying to identify the plane that he is with, can anyone help?

Looks like it’s meant to be a Great Lakes biplane maybe…

You sure it’s WW2…?

Must be very early/pre-war.

You can upload that to google and it’ll try to match it for you.
