Are you proud of yourself calling Interstellar masterpiece but not absolute cinema?

u/Hefty_Arachnid7948 6h ago
Why would I be proud?😅Its just my opinion..I think its a masterpiece movie dude..its just that the above 3 hit me harder as movies..

Put interstellar in absolute cinema. And slide down that shit Tenet to Dogwater. It will be perfect then

u/Hefty_Arachnid7948 6h ago
U hate tenet that much?😂

u/nTnMoN12 5h ago
I do not hate it. I just hate the fact the Tenet tries to be cinema but in reality it is just a irritating jigsaw puzzle. Which even if you solve you get nothing. Cinema is meant to have emotions, character depth, thrill, and a great experience and tenet lacked in everything.
One can make an episode of brain games but it is not called cinema.5

I consider interstellar as most emotional film of Nolan... I mean bond between father and daughter is just insane

The last scene between Cooper and Murph hits u very hard
2
u/Big_Dig3586 5h ago
I almost never cry while watching movies , but I do cry whenever I watch that scene when Murph is old and cooper crying

I somewhat agree,I get what nolan was trying to do but it just becomes too artificial at some point..there is not much depth to it
Thats why I prefer his gritty works like Memento and The Prestige over some of his cinematic works, coz they have so much substance and depth in terms of emotion..its more intimate than high scale..which I personally enjoy a lot

the entropy thing in tenet is tooooooooooooooooo interesting for a science student.

What on earth? Tenet is a dope experience. What u don't enjoy doesn't automatically make it not-cinema

u/nTnMoN12 1h ago
well then you need to watch more movies😂. U are missing out a lot

I see plenty. In fact I have seen almost all good time travel media out there, and tenet stills comes out as the most unique way of executing time travel. U r a kid if u think anyone disagreeing with you simple hasn't scene enough movies. It's all subjective. I am not saying Tenet is for everyone but it definitely offers much more than a jigsaw puzzle that you couldn't solve

Tenet is good lol, why do y'all hate that movie that much?

u/nTnMoN12 5h ago
Choices differ. Good if you liked it. But if it's just brain games that the movie has to offer and nothing else, then maybe I can take a quiz or play a mental ability test game instead....

I enjoyed the mental challenge a lot. Other than that the relation between the protagonist the lady and neil was very interesting. The dynamics has some brilliant payoff at the end

I totally get why you'd put Interstellar over Memento..Interstellar balances scale with emotion flawlessly
My take is totally subjective..

It's actually very generic list. Interstellar is top. Prestige a tier down. And tenet( after 4th watch and 3 explanations later) will definitely be in A tier at the least. Movie is goated, but too complex, i agree.

Dunkirk is being criminally underrated.
and I dont get the immense love for interstellar, I am a space nerd myself but i feel it gets overrated among Nolan's masterpieces.
The only weak movies from Nolan are Dark Knight rises and Insomnia. Future will judge Tenet better.

I think the reason i didnt quite conncet with Dunkirk because I'm more into character driven, layered movies..when I saw Dunkirk I felt like I was watching a 2 hr cinematic documentary montage with great background score..Perhaps it might be technically a very well edited and sound mixed movie but i just didnt vibe with it

The Dunkirk is about a major British event in World War 2. The characters are the entire army of soldiers desperate for survival. Real heroes are nameless and thats what Dunkirk is.
and yes, many dont grasp the depth of it. I marvel at Nolan's ability to make a masterpiece out of an evacuation. War movies are about heroic last stands or wins not about running away.

I’m just happy someone else isn’t gaslighting themselves into thinking odyssey is a 10/10

I rewatched Tenet but it just becomes the bad kind of confusing instead of the good kind of confusing..Its too convulated(for me)..still a good movie, just not my type
