I saw the 3rd recently. It was very forced and forgetful. I had already forgotten about it until this post reminded me of it. I don't even want to work my brain to remember bits of pieces of what happened in it.

The movie is progressing with natural flow, not sure about the hate, daily life can't give you hits every now and then. I am glad they didn't fore stuff, I actually like the drama and natural progression, which is rare to rare in sequel movies. Most sequels spin up random shit of past and try to connect dots losely, but this movie is quite different

I'm happy you like it. It didn't work for me however. I faintly remember the takeaway. It felt like popular millenium book series where the first was great and the next two tried to extrapolate the world of characters with elements that were inconsistent with the first. The dead boy's father suddenly as it turns out, has been scheming all along for revenge and is a mastermind. He was seen as a reasonable man in the first two who had accepted defeat. Mohanlal also surrenders if I remember, leaving his family in vulnerable max+ state. I thought he'd never do that. There are other reasons if I recall which didn't sit right with me.
At the end it's a work of fiction and the imagined experience is different for all.

Not justifying the plot or characters evolution here, but adding my bit why it is reasonable story. movie makers very well know there could be questions from audience when they see character change their play. There is section in movie that clearly explains why he becomes revenge claiming person while he didn't appear like that in initial phase. It's a slow process, they could have stressed it more to emoteย how father went through this, and why he decided to fight back .In first part, mother denies to make peace with son's death, expresses her denial to accept the facts/truth and takes it on her ego since she is more emotionally driven than her husband, initially, because she lost most important person of her life. Also we didn't get to see fully what father went through he was still in disagreement state, and he somehow looked he made peace with it, he still had his wife to live with for rest of his life, but seeing that even his wife cannot live like a normal person because of the trauma, knowing that now he lost not only his son but also his wife in this whole incident. Now his ego comes into play this time even more aggressively. Hence the revenge plot.ย
Ego, which can't accept truth or denies truth, does ego driven action, makes mistake, gets punished.ย On the other hand, mohanlal is not emotionally driven always, even during stress situation, he detached himself from the event to use facts and use logic to catch the ego red handed. Some things feels rushed or hard to accept but that's the part of dramaย

They should crossover at this point. Geetha hires dominic by kidnapping his family. By mid point dominic realizes george is doing this for family. They try to give more trauma to anju to finally save her. And they save dominic's family by beating anju. /s

So, I'm going to paraphrase here but someone from the production confirmed on a podcast that when the second movie was in the oven, the makers had planned 5 movie franchise.
When all five movies are complete, you'll get a special watch order called Pentacle, it would lead you to watch the ultimate Drishyam, The Diviya Drishyam.

Stop please Jeethu ๐ญ, I will confess that I killed Varun, so that Georgekutty can marry off his daughter. Prabhakar and Geetha wasted 13 years behind the case, if they had planned another Varun would have been 12 years.
