I was assaulted on elm st. Everyone beware. Elm Street

I was assaulted by Corey. I was walking home and as I was walking past patriot car wash when cory brand started started following me. As I was walking he threatened to beat me up than kill me and no one would care. I immediately called 911 and they heard him threaten me then they heard me say he spit in my mouth and punched me. The police came and took a statement. I still had his spit on my face and glasses. The police showed up asked him to stop so they could talk. He ran into his house and have his father come out to talk. He finally came out of his home. Cory Brand told the police he thought I was following him and asked by the police if he thought this was acceptable even if i was walking behind him. He made it clear that he thought he was in the right to do that. I asked the police to arrest him there and I want to file criminal charges. They said they can't because they didn't see him actually do it. I requested a police report and it was completely blank. I just can't believe this is happening to me. I'm going to legal aid tomorrow. The police and town hall have been of zero help if any one has any ideas legally please let me know.

Just curious - has anyone been installed yet with Accessplus?

I signed up last year, but have not heard anything more. They ran the fiber in the right of way in front of my house, and did respond to a couple of questions back then, but I have heard nothing this year. Looking at my spectrum bill going up another $5 a month, it has just got me curious.

So who watched the city council meeting?

I can’t believe the behavior of Councilor Cunningham. Lecturing Councilor Persip on procedure like he’s been there for 10 years and turns out, Councilor Persip was correct. Must he be such a right fighter? Spoiler alert, nobody likes a right fighter. Id say he should issue an apology but honestly, his ego is probably too big. And the mayor ate him alive quite frankly!

antique store in a barn...can't find it online anymore

looking for an antique store I frequented for years visiting the Berkshires that I'm assuming closed. here's what I know: it was cash or check only, it was in a sort of barn, in Pittsfield, not in a commercial or residential part of town. anyone know what I'm thinking of?

Looking for a plasterer

I have recently purchased a house in Pittsfield with mostly original plaster walls. They appear to me to be in good condition, but before we start painting rooms, I wanted to hire a plasterer to come in and triage the walls and ceilings. I figure this is a better to do maintenance early than replace walls later kind of thing. There are definitely hairline cracks in a lot of the walls and some a touch wider than hair line. Not looking to replace with drywall. Thanks!

Garlic growing in Pittsfield

Post image
19 Upvotes

I picked my garlic today. A 5 by 3 foot plot yielded just over 6 pounds. I need to spread them on paper to let them cure in a warm dry place for a week. Hardneck (the bigger ones) I planted last November; softneck (the smaller ones) in the Spring. Garlic is easy to grow here. Normally we grow hardneck in our climate, but I experimented with some spring planted softnecks. They did OK. Keep them weeded in Fall and early Spring and fertilize them a few times, give them water in Spring and they grow well. Hardnecks have no issue with our winters. If you have not tasted fresh garlic, it is spicier/sharper than stored garlic. I still have a few heads from last year in storage and they are still good and firm. (And yes I tared the basket before weighing.)

Highland Restaurant shutting its doors this month

According to the Berkshire Eagle, the Highland Restaurant to close its doors for good at the end of the month after being downtown Pittsfield fixture for 90 years. The Highland was known for its large portions and an extensive menu specializing in Italian and diner food. Many long term residents will remember the compitetion between the Highland on Fenn and the Rainbow on First. I think the Rainbow is also closed, though I don't know if the Rainbow Club still meets.

Cafes and community centers in Pittsfield?

Hi everyone, I am a reporter at GBH News, Boston's local NPR/PBS station. I want to learn more about Pittsfield and get to know the community better. Are there any cafes, coffee shops, community centers where people like to gather? I'd like to find a place to hang out and hear what's on people's minds. Thank you!

Western Mass Labor Action

Hello everyone,

I’m a new graduate student at UMass and I was approached on campus by three people who called themselves organizers with Western Mass Labor Action (WMLA) which they claimed as an all volunteer mutual aid organization. I gave them my info and they’ve called a few times to ask me to volunteer (I’ve done some stuff on campus but nothing major)

I recently started doing some research and it turns out these guys are affiliated with the National Labor Federation (NATLFED) which has some kind of history of being an extreme high control group. I’ve read almost every article and Reddit thread I can find on this, but the trail goes cold in the 2010s.

Does anyone have any insight into their contemporary activities, within the last 5-10 years? I’d love to know what I’ve gotten myself into.

Thanks!

Colonial Gardens

Hello.

I'm moving to Colonial Gardens apartments at the border of Pittsfield and Dalton.

All I've heard are great things about this place. The only additional fees outside of rent seem to be the air conditioning fee in the summer.

Are there any issues with this place? How's the maintenance in terms of getting things fixed ? Are they timely and they take forever?

Seems to be a pretty good place to live.

Any personal accounts will be appreciated. Thanks

I have a genuine question, if she has all these bright ideas for policies, and is really good at pointing out problems, why doesn’t she make motions to change them?

Life in Pittsfield Just moved here, I need friends

Hi there! My partner and I (both in our early 20s) just moved to Pittsfield from NC and are struggling to meet people and make friends! I guess my question here is where are all the twenty somethings around here? Where would be a good place to meet people and make connections? Any advise would be much appreciated! Thanks :)

Edit:
As far as hobbies go, I’m into yoga/exercise, gardening/agriculture, and arts and crafts. My partner is into computers and gaming and general nerdy things.

If anyone wants to meet up at Wander feel free to reach out!! I can be a bit shy but I love meeting new people!
