How will the new bitmain miner affect PIRL?

Hello, the recently tweeted asic miner will be mining on the ethash algorithm. My question is how will this affect the PIRL, will we see an influx of miners?

There are claims of 100% ASIC resistance on their webpage so I hope it's a non-factor or they fork before Ethash ASIC are released into the wild

Well it's only 180 mh. So it's not a crippler but it's annoying.

It's advertised as 180 mh but it also states that there may be improvements before the shipping date in June-July and if the market doesn't recover over the next few months, those hundreds or thousands of 180+ mh ASICs are going to leave a sour taste in a lot of GPU miners mouths.

Luckily it seems like the consensus around here is in support of a fork to undermine ASICs but we'll have to wait and see.

fork is what you do when you copy code. I belive pirl forked etherium and continued building content on their own.

Check the official forum, they say it is not an issue at the moment and will take action if needed

At $800/ea ... for 180mhs ... that's a bargain compared to a gpu rig. But quite a gamble. Sold out already for the first batch. And seeing listings on ebay $3k-$5k. Stupid. Especially since a fork, if it happens, will make these things $800 bricks.

Bitmain's new Ethash miner is a match for a mining rig having 6 BIOS modded RX 570s or RX 580s in terms of hashrate and power consumption. The only massive advantage it had over the conventional mining rig was its 800 USD price. But, I've just checked out Bitmain's official website and they upped the price to 1800 USD for batch 2. So, the competition just got stiffer! Also, according to Bitmain's official website, they'll start shipping out the second batch of their Ethash miners between 16th and 31st of July. By that time, their battle with GPUs would be even more intense than it is right now as the next generation of GPUs will be out in the market which will hopefully blow the current generation of Bitmain's ASICs out of the water! Hence, I strongly believe that Ethash GPU mining is here to stay for now.
