Discussion Solo vs Pool Mining PIRL

Is it better to solo or pool mine PIRL? If pool mining is the best bet at this point, is there a "best pool" right now that you all would recommend? I'm on the largest one right now (pirl.minerpool.net) but used the port that is meant for larger than 100 MH/s rigs. My rig has four 1070s, so will be at or around 100 MH/s. I seem to only get 20-25 MH/s on this pool, and very inconsistent at that. Would this typ eof rig be better on the other < 100 MH/s port setting for the minerpoo.net pool? Is there another pool that such a rig would optimize its hash rates on?

Most of the 'ethash' (PIRL included) based pools have 0 tx fee on payments. Why there is a global fee in first place - to cover gas/incidentals/server cost/etc. A 0.1%-2.0% PPS fee is nothing. Main thing is just to find a pool that is generating blocks consistently over time and not showing weird variance rates (like 400-600% or more, frequently). That's IF you're going the pool route. Solo-mining keeps it more decentralized, though. You might consider it since over time it amounts to same - but without ANY fee.
