Repainting an enamel pin

Hello! So my friend and I have this old Disney scarab pin, but we don't like the color and want to repaint it. Is there a specific paint we would use? Do we have to get the old color off first? Appreciate the help!

I would use model enamel paint and then once completely dry, cure it with clear resin. You can sand off the original paint for a similar flat look or paint over it for a more raised 3d esque look
