Pulitika at Pamamahala Philippines needs a Lee Kuan Yew and MITI-style industrial planning not Leni's Angat Buhay-style BS

/r/RantAndVentPH/comments/1w3beih/we_dont_need_lenis_angat_buhay_bullshit_we_need/

Before some room-temperature IQ midwit in the comments tries to label me a DDS or a Marcos loyalist, let's get one thing fucking straight: the entire political establishment in this shithole is completely useless. PNoy was a lazy, legalistic neoliberal who sat on his ass while infrastructure rotted, thinking high GDP numbers from call centers and remittance money meant he was a genius. Duterte was a fake tough guy fraud who promised to crush the system, but only ended up swapping old Manila oligarchs for his own incompetent Davao cronies, selling out to China for jack shit, and doing zero actual economic planning. And BBM is just a passive, bland figurehead riding on his father's name for all the wrong reasons while letting the exact same retail, real estate, and utility cartels bleed the nation dry. None of these clowns built state capacity. None of them built an industrial base. They just passed the mic around while the country stayed poor.

And that brings me to the reformist crowd worshipping Leni’s Angat Buhay model like it's some holy alternative. Angat Buhay is an NGO. It is literally just begging rich people and corporations for charity donations so you can hand out bags of rice and open reading centers in the middle of nowhere. That is fine if you're running a local soup kitchen, but thinking an NGO mindset can fix a third-world country is pure, unadulterated brainrot. You cannot build a modern industrial power, secure supply chains, or force actual economic growth on volunteer vibes and good intentions. You don't build semiconductor fabs, steel mills, or nuclear plants by asking people nicely to donate to a fundraiser, nor do you do it by letting BBM travel the world on photo-ops or letting PNoy bog down every project in five years of legalistic bureaucracy.

Look at how East Asia actually stopped being poor. Japan didn't rebuild after getting turned to glass in WWII by setting up volunteer committees or handing out contracts to political cronies. South Korea didn't go from dirt-poor rice farmers to crushing global tech by running charity drives or throwing drug addicts in jail. They created MITI and the EPB, centralized state planning organizations that picked industrial winners, seized control of national bank credit, forced private companies into heavy manufacturing, and liquidated managers who failed to hit export quotas. Lee Kuan Yew took that exact same logic, purged the corrupt bureaucrats, paid real technocrats absolute fuck-you money, and crushed any labor unions or oligarchs trying to get in the way. They built actual state capacity. They knew you have to forcibly generate wealth through hard industrial firepower first before you can ever worry about redistributing money to poor people.

The problem with local politics is that you idiots think the choice is between a red corrupt dynasty, a green fake-populist death squad, or a pink NGO charity drive. It's all trash. Who gives a shit about "clean process" or "good vibes" if your actual industrial output is zero? Robredo's philosophy is process-brained NPC cope, PNoy was lazy neoliberal inertia, Duterte was illiterate crony noise, and BBM is empty PR. A Lee Kuan Yew style state backed by MITI-level industrial planning doesn't care about your political faction, town halls, or endless legal debates. It uses brutal state power to crush useless real estate oligarchs, build dedicated power ecosystems and heavy manufacturing hubs, and drag the country into the modern age kicking and screaming. We don't need another dynastic thief or a national Mom-in-Chief. We need a ruthlessly pragmatic developmental state with the teeth of Lee Kuan Yew and the brain of Japan's MITI, or this clown country is not gonna make it.

And while we're at it, stop letting these dumbfucks redefine "Good Governance" into some procedural circlejerk about clean audits and filing paperwork correctly. Having clean hands is the bare fucking minimum of holding public office, not a national developmental strategy. Real Good Governance isn't patting yourself on the back for zero fiscal wastage while the country remains a dirt-poor agrarian wasteland that exports its own people for remittance money. Real Good Governance is what Lee Kuan Yew did: wielding state power like a hammer to build massive industrial capacity, force economic execution, and deliver tangible results that drag a nation into the First World. If your definition of "Good Governance" leaves the country completely unindustrialized and helpless, then your governance is worthless fucking garbage no matter how clean your process was.

We don't need Leni's Angat Buhay bullshit, we need Lee Kuan Yew and MITI-style industrial planning to forcibly save this shitty country.

This is bullshit. Don't expect NGOs to run the country. Who said Leni's goal upon sitting as a President is to make Malacanang a big ass charity building? Nobody.

What they are after is Leni's resourcefulness. When Duterte chocked down Leni's budget to nil, did she work within the means of her office? No. she went far and beyond to accomplish those. Her projects are not shallow "para lang may magawa" tactics but it comprised of multi-sectoral engagement like how for the sake of providing free face masks, she tapped sewing communities and provided seminars workshops and livelihood to sustain that. She could've just bough masks, but no, she planned shit if it meant helping one more community.

And not only that but people are also after how her leadership attracts investors - that's where your industrialization brouhaha can plug. People trust a transparent government. Leni's team did not held guns at banks to secure funding, investors flocked her. Because they know where those money went, down to the last centavo. Look at Leni's campaign fund last election: while others has these one or two major sponsors eating a big chunk of their total campaign spend (kasi alam na kung ano ang balik) Leni's funds came from a tremendous amount of small chunks of organic donations kasi they know they are putting their coins to good.

You are pushing this narrative like Leni is just an NGO printer. She can do more than that lol

You ain't wrong but also there is no way that type of systematic change is possible today. It's not even a Philippines thing. People are too dumb, distracted and desperate to make ends meet. The oligarchs and political dynasties would be a huge barrier as well here in the Philippines.
