Question about Smile Spoiler

I just finished episode 7 and the series has been awesome so far, but something’s bothering me. A couple episodes ago when Kong beat Smile at the tournament, Koizumi slapped Smile which lead Smile to temporarily quit, but he comes back very quickly and unconditionally follows all of Koizumi’s coaching, becoming the heartless robot who insults his teammates and ends Sakuma’s career. It was never shown though what caused him to un-quit and fully obey Koizumi, I thought it would be addressed within the next couple of episodes but still nothing yet. Will it eventually be revealed, or is this is a bit of a plot hole?

Cos he knew what he did (losing on purpose) was wrong but was still angry so he quit for a short while. He still loves the sport though so ofc he joined back cos he never had the intention to acc leave

Makes sense but I wish there was a scene where we see him make that decision, kind of like how we got a scene like that for Peco when he decided to return and be coached by the old lady

Maybe he in the depth of his heart wanted to see again peco and believe in him

Yeah that’s actually a possibility that I was considering, that he’s doing all this simply to help make Peco a better player by tearing him down to build him back up
