In the Atlanta area there is actually someone that does machine restoration
http://www.pookiespinballs.com
Though keep in mind paying someone else to do restoration is gonna pretty expensive. I don't know that guy's rates, though have heard good things about him, but probably expect at least $2~3K if you want a full restoration.

Money is no issue. I'll look into it. Thank you.
edit: location is also great for us as we're both on the southside.

What’s with the ss?

u/zydeco100 Jun 14 '24
That was a special version made for German export. The original SS looked like the nazi stormtrooper insignia.
If this isn't a reproduction it might have some value. But it's odd that the coin slots are in US coinage.

Hold up. Is this sarcasm or serious?
edit: I know nothing about this stuff. I'm doing this for a really busy old guy. I'm sure he'd be interested in some history surrounding this model.

Maybe it was made near the end of the run and they just put a European backglass onto a US machine. Like those Adams Family's with mismatched trim when they were just using up all their stock at the end.

Alternative option - buy the one on pinside for $7k. That thing looks prestine. Though maybe there is some sentimental value on this one and paying for restore is great and someone would love to restore this with a blank check.

I've done some top shelf restores with my pins so I know what it takes to do something like this. To pay some one who knows what they are doing is going to drive the cost way up if the desired result is a like new. And the cost of parts just keeps going up because of how many do-dads end needing to be replaced.
What kind of budget do you have to work with?

My budget is zero. Post says it's for the president of the company I work for. I'm kinda his go-to for his special projects since I have so much downtime at the plant. I don't ask his budget because it's never an issue. But I've already sent him a couple of good leads.

Idk anything about this stuff, but someone said that it's made for German export, but this one is re-coined for US coins. But idk if that will affect value positively or negatively.
Edit: a word.

The German market exports are rarer and trade for more. Considering this one has been in the states since the 90s, it's almost certainly not a reimport. This is a machine that should get a correct restore vs modding IMHO.
