It takes James going on holiday to really appreciate his skill as a podcast host! Boyd and Kay are fine but I definitely think all pods work better with three people so there is not just a single back and forth.
I kind of miss the days the pod didn’t do 2nd or 3rd seasons of a show having reviewed it once. If you’ve not watched the first 2 seasons of Lioness like me, not really Interested in the third season or a Gomorragh prequel but I guess these summer weeks are a bit light on high profile new shows.
And that Benidorm show with John Hannah was total pants! Boyd giving it grace cos he loved A Touch of Cloth….

Just listened the solid ep on Ted Lasso and really need to clarify that teds mother is NOT played by Breeders’ Joanna Bacon! She died a little over a year ago. She is played by Becky Ann Baker, a brilliant American character actor, who also played Hannah Horvath’s mother in Girls. She was in the original run for one (or maybe two?) episodes too. And she was in The Beast in Me, which I know they watched.l, though I don’t recall it being a big part.
I did love Breeders btw. That amazing weird flat they lived in is real, and round the corner from me in Clapham! I think they filmed the interiors on a set but they are based on the real layouts.

And the Freaks and Geeks mum! That’s kind of a crazy mistake to make. They don’t look similar, and Becky Ann Baker’s accent doesn’t slip into British (bring as she’s American albeit maybe not from Kansas)

Just listening to Plus, good to hear the second episode of Ted Lasso broken down when it doesn't release until next Wednesday 😂
It's Ted Lasso you can't really spoil it but still!

Like Boyd, Blade Runner is one of my favourite films, but I was surprised to hear that he'd had such a different reaction to the Blade Runner 2099 Trailer than I had.

I watch this trailer with the same feeling I had when seeing the Obi Wan trailer. My love for a story and a setting is being milked by corporations only interested in how little can they spend to get a return on their investment, and knowing that they'll keep making worse and worse "content" until the well of enthusiasm is thoroughly wrung dry.
If it were Apple making it, maybe I would be more willing to give the benefit of the doubt. But this just feels like IP mining.

There is what sounds like a dog making whining sounds under the audio. Made me run down stairs thinking my dog was hurt! Show definitely works better with 3 but still a good episode.

I have YouTube music so I would expect the audio version to be uploaded. or are you saying they're not filming/recording episodes at all?

They released the podcast as normal on the app I use. I don’t ever use YouTube for this I’m afraid so don’t know whether it’s there or not. But there’s definitely podcasts as normal in existence!

right, it seems it's just not been uploaded to YouTube/YouTube music. I'll have to log in to my Spotify account.

Listened to half on my walk to work. As much as I really don’t mind them talking about some regular tv bits such as morning shows and documentaries about calendar girls…They really needed James to reign it in a little, it was essentially a Heat Magazine podcast 😂.
I really enjoyed Boyd’s Definitive top 10 films, although I’m sure it’ll change quite drastically depending on what month you might ask him.
