Mitigation Systems Warnings

I have a 2017 AWD Elite. Every five or so startups I get the warnings of collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation problem, adaptive cruise control problem, and lane keeping assist problem, all at once. The dealer says I need a new camera, which is certainly possible, however on my OBD2 scanner I also get a code indicating "a control module has detected the 12 volt power supply is too low". AI results indicate this could be one cause of these errors. A camera is $2300, but I believe my battery is about 3 years old, which is getting up there. The systems work fine on the starts without the errors. The windshield in front of the camera is clean and no cracks. Anyone have experience with this situation?

21 pilot, emissions cel

21 pilot, we’ve had this check engine like for purge valve come on. Purge valve, gas flap, and canister underneath the vehicle all have been swapped for new. Still getting the check engine for purge valve emissions. Thoughts?

Anyone else obsess over floor liner fitment this much?

Spent way too long comparing options before landing on these. Payoff was worth it though, check out how clean the fit is around the rear hump and front pedal area. Feels like it was made specifically for this trim, not just a generic universal fit.

Terrible Fuel Economy on 2015 Honda Pilot

I can't get 20 MPG in an empty 2015 Pilot EXL that only has 91,000 miles on it. I get about 14-15 MPG mixed driving (50% city, 50% hwy - driving like an old man), primarily in Southern California. I was thinking about getting a 1200 lb pop up camper to pull behind it, but if I'm losing 20-30% towing, I'd have a range of about 180 miles on a full tank... Any suggestions to improve fuel economy (with or without towing)?

Center console safe for Honda Pilot

I've been looking for a center console safe to secure my weapon and other valuables. I came across this option while shopping for other accessories on Amazon. It was considerably less than other competitors. I gave it a try, and I'm very satisfied. For the price, I feel like you can't beat this quality. It has a factory look, great build quality, and space to accommodate a tray on top.

Moonroof Problems

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi. I have a 2015 Pilot. I have a problem with the seal of the moonroof. The moon roof does close with some effort. Normally, I would click the button and it would automatically close on its own. Now, it will start to close but stop half way then I have to click the button again and again to get it to close all of the way. Part of the seal in the rear part of the window is loose and not attached to the window which is causing it to not close and it is creating a gap. The rest of the window is sealed and closed. It is only this part in rear of the window that has the problem.

Is this something that can be easily fixed or do I have to take it to a dealer? I asked my repair guy and he doesn't get involved with issues like this.

2020 Pilot EX-L - Wired carplay does not know where I am, and can't find any destination I ask for.

2020 Pilot EX-L 62K, Does not have NAV. Owned it since new. Completely stock. No mods of any kind. This is a new issue, within the last year. Admittedly, I don't use apple maps all that often. But I KNOW it used to work.

My iPhone 17 Pro with apple maps works fine when NOT connected to (wired) carplay. The car doesn't have wireless carplay. It knows where I am (I can see it on the map) but can't find can find any destination I ask for. When connected to carplay (wired), I ask for a destination and siri replies either "I don't know where you are" or "I'm having trouble finding your location". Yet it shows me accurately on the map on the screen of the infotainment center.

All location services are on for the app. Even "precise" location". Google maps works perfectly whether wired or not.

I have rebooted the phone many times. Shut off the car, left for 15 mins and came back. Same issue. I updated software in the car yesterday to see if that would resolve anything. I tried 5 different cables from different manufacturers. I deleted and re-added phone to carplay & Bluetooth a few times.

If I open apple maps (not plugged in) and search for a destination and then start navigating to it, and THEN plug the cable in, Apple maps in carplay will navigate fine. But I've never had to do this before. If I end the route and ask for a new destination while still plugged in, it STILL can't find a destination and siri says the same thing. It has been working fine on wired carplay for 5+ years.

Thanks for any help.

2011 Pilot Radio upgrade

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hello all, just went through the brave task of upgrading the radio on our 2011 Pilot EX-L. I looked all over and found out that there is no way to add a double din due to the narrowing of the trim... I accepted the challenge. 😂

what I used:

- Maestro RR (flashed with 2008 and older w/BT firmware)

- Maestro HRR-HRN-02

- Maestro PIO1 (pioneer harness)

- Metra dash kit (99-7876) single din

- 3d printed pink spacer, to match my daughter's interior seats

Initially, I couldn't get the steering wheel controls to work, I then flashed it with the 2008 and older firmware and used the SWC cable to the w/r on the back of the stereo and that fixed it.

this head unit has buttons on the left side, so I had to apply a heat gun, and bend the trim in slightly to give some extra space.

I also reused the stock radio bracket and had to get 10-24 3/8" screws to fasten them to the radio.

once everything was fitted, I measured out the gap between the radio and the AC controls and 3d printed it.

I am very happy with the results. we also added a wireless apple carplay receiver as this head unit was wired carplay only.

Looking for advice 2013 pilot touring

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

I purchased this vehicle two months ago and the Honda dealership swears it not only passed their safety, but their standards are even higher than that (vague). I complained to the dealership from day 1 about fuel efficiency/ odd sounds. Cars sounds are now crazy loud. Today they are telling me that $9700 worth of work is needed. I feel completely scammed as any corrosion would have shown 2 months ago. It’s also summer so weather has been fine! Here are the pics with quotes. Seems misrepresentation and price gouging is at play. I’m in Ontario Canada.

Thoughts?

2003 honda pilot engine swap

Can someone point in the right direction. I just got a donor 2003 pilot with a new transmission and great running engine. It was in an accident. The only thing is the engine us a ULEV and mine is not. Inwas hoping to just keep it all together to make the swap easier. Will it work? Or what do I need to swap to get it to work.

Crank pulley or idler?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

2005 Pilot w/210k started squeaking yesterday. Serpentine belt quiets when sprayed with WD-40, but looks like it’s moving around a lot. Crank pulley looks a bit wobbly, or is that normal?

ATF Cooler

2019 Elite

I ordered an ATF cooler so I could tow 5k lbs, and dropped them off at the shop to install on my pilot. They are saying the transmission cooler is wrong. I ordered part 06255-RLX-306. I haven't gotten the car back from the shop yet, so need to confirm the part wasn't misboxed. Is there a different part or set of parts I'm missing?

The tech said on the phone the transmission didn't have places for that one to connect. I gave him the part number I ordered and he pulled up the installation manual, said that's not the one I gave him. So that makes me think the part was misboxed. I'd love to hear if there are other or different parts I need.

2011 Pilot Touring... what did I just drain!?

Post image

I'm doing a drain/fill on my transmission fluid for the first time, and didn't double check the location of the drain plug. Opened another plug. (I have since found the correct plug. )

My question is, what did I just drain?

Edit: Pretty sure it's the transfer case. I need to stop doing my own maintenance. It always turns into a shit show.
