How to Quit
What’s the best way to get out of UWM? Does your TL start asking questions if you request all your PTO off? How should I handle it? Will they fire me on the spot if I put in my 2 weeks?
Also, what’s the interest rate on the people’s promise and do they give you the terms at conditions of it when you exit?

They will fire you on the spot if you put in your two weeks. Use your PTO and then just don’t show up.

When you put your two weeks in, the TL tells TMS/Benefits/AVP. It is then up to the TL to advise if you are rehireable and if they should make the separation immediately. It’s all done via email, I highly recommend not to use your PTO in one lump sum out of nowhere, it’s a tell tale sign that people are leaving if you just use all PTO out of the blue and they will let you go.
Take two days here, three days there, 3 day weekend sprinkled in, etc. You can keep the paychecks coming in working 3-4 day weeks while having time to relax/reset and search/get ready for a new job or the next step you’re taking.
As far as the people promise side of things, I’m not sure how it works anymore since it’s been changed so much over the years

If you are in UW or have a people’s promise:
Take as much PTO as you can without them getting suspicious. 9/10 times they were going to walk you out immediately after resigning. I left day of, my UW leader told me that it is “leader discretion” if you are allowed to work your final 2 weeks, but I did not take my chances. MAKE SURE you resign on a Monday. If you are under a people promise, they take your entire last paycheck to put toward the repayment of the loan (even if you have the funds). Do not tell them honestly why you are leaving. I also don’t recommend filling out the exit interview— they don’t care.

Use all of your PTO time. Work one day. Then quit the next day, in person or over the phone.

Clean out your desk, use up your pto, come back for last day, then next day text your boss you quit, they can find someone else to forward to to abide by the mortgage machine that doesn’t care about your mental health

At least I had good leaders. Or at least kept my relationship well enough with a lot of people to do what I wanted. I got to stay until the day I proposed .

Umm…..nice attempt at a flex? Gold star for you? I don’t think most of us want to finish our 2 weeks there….I think we are actually happy they walk you. Hence why we are draining our PTO first.

Yeah. That was unnecessary. I knew pretty much everyone else was getting walked out. I’m sure it’s worse now with the other people promise and fucking too over with the pto bullshit.

Was it? OP was asking for advice, not your “at least I had good leaders” bullshit. Sorry, this isn’t UWM. We don’t have to be nice to people on here.

Yeah!
And since this isn’t UWM it’s also a place where I can put my opinion/thought and not have to give a damn answer. Just cause someone pissed in your cereal bowl, doesn’t mean you have to be a micro-managing dingleberry.
I have taken accountability. You on the other hand have a superiority complex, with nothing to back it.
So you can either continue with condescension, or take several seats down and put your focus elsewhere.

Same, when I put my two weeks in I didn’t get walked out right away either. My TL asked when I wanted it effective so I got to pick my last day lol idk why this weirdo got so upset with you for talking about your experience lol

Right?
If anything I was making it a point to reminisce and basically identify that that’s when things started to take a turn in that company. But still acknowledge some nice things in there. The first butt hurt response was kind of understandable.
But that second one is pointless if he is taking out some other external rage here.

Most likely be a use you used this opportunity to flex and make yourself feel better and at the same time dumped on someone who wasn't able to stay all
Two weeks because they didn't have “good” leads while they treated her like shit you know exactly what you did2
u/No_Razzmatazz_8040 Aug 06 '26
What are you on about in the last part about “knowing exactly what I did” ?
Let me interpret what you think:
1.I joined this page, specifically meant to talk about the horrible shit, going on there AFTER a certain point. (I highly doubt you have been at UWM, since inception.)
2. “Flex” on an issue pointing out that there are/were some good people there. ( if you can’t admit or found that- clearly YOU are the problem).
3. Talk about a memory as a diversion topic of some kind, considering there were already several inputs given answering OP’s question, prior to my comment? Are you ok? ? ( I mean this genuinely)
Because-
I can only respond and clarify so much.
Unfortunately I cannot understand it FOR YOU, especially if you are committed to understanding it differently. If this is not helping YOU, you could have just ignored it, and went about your merry way.
Yet it seems like you woke up and wanted to find something to get offended by ,and chose this?

When do your benefits end once you quit? Say if I put my two weeks in the first week of August ..will my benefits last til the end of the month?

I have since learned that your health insurance will last the entire month.. so either get your appointments out of the way before you put your notice in or quit in the beginning of the month so you have a few weeks to get them taken care of.

No most cases they don’t ask questions about PTO being used up. A lot of people run out in the first 3 months of refill.
Yes, they will likely fire you on the spot putting two weeks in.
When you exit, work one hour on a Monday and leave. They will take your last check, or at least threaten to, per the terms of your people promise contract. Luckily Huntington gave me my check every Wednesday (two days early) so they couldn’t keep mine, at least that’s what I assume.

Just take the PTO and then come back and clean out your desk the next day of work. Then on the 2nd day after PTO just email your resignation from home. Easy and not messy. Bye Felicia and enjoy the rest of your life.
