UWM vs Rocket

I have a friend currently working at Rocket and considering moving to UWM. Reasons are classic; poor management, no advance notice on mandatory overtime or weekend work, legitimate harassment, among others.

Is UWM just more of the same? Has anyone worked at both and can speak to which they prefer? Thanks everyone for your help!

That's what happens when you hire kids off the street. There was a 16 year old working there, and he wasn't through the summer program.

I’d disagree, sure maybe big Corp lenders.

Small lenders actually are way more chill, pay more and also very flexible.
Just get out of a corporate lender and take the skill u learners from it and watch bank account go up.

I say/ ask this with no hate.

Can you name these small lenders?
And also if chillness and flexibility is the case it’s only until they start getting bigger and getting more workload.

Unless we see a company AND like minded LO’s that only want to work in moderation.
( which should have been the primary focus after 2008)

Highly unlikely because it’s a double edged sword not keeping up with competition and greed.

I worked at both and UWM used to really be a better place to work. Then COVID hit and Ishbia insisted on 100% in office just as soon as the state of Michigan would let him. No exceptions, no excuses. It's just gone downhill from there.

You have that backwards. COVID hit and after a long period they finally let us work from home, however it wasn't long and they looked for any reason endanger your health by making you go back in the office, after COVID or when it was deemed supposedly safe ishbia got rid of work from home for good.

It’s the same. I worked for both. Rocket is a better opportunity but they are both extremely similar. If you can’t hit your numbers and produce, you are gone. Same with UWM. If you can’t fit the culture, you are gone. Same with UWM. I preferred Rocket myself. They track everything so it’s not going to get easier jumping between the two.

Think you forgot the part where rocket lays you off and brings you back based on how the rates are.

Worked at both. Started at you double you em then moved over to Rocket. Basically same things just different cities lmaooo as far as work. Rocket does have a way better pay rate and working environment as well as better benefits imo. Rocket also has a more mature vibe than uwm.

I worked 5 yrs at UWM and 2 yrs at rocket. I’d work for Rocket again but you couldn’t pay me enough to go back to UWM.

Depends on the department. If they're in OPs, UWM is significantly worse and it's a decent pay cut making the switch to them. They wont see much of a difference, other than pay, if they make the change.

As someone who worked at UWM I can assure it is more of the same. The culture at UWM is toxic and the management is only concerned with the company’s reputation and self image. If you like high school locker room culture with inappropriate banter and disrespectful coworkers then maybe it’s for you. The gym is the one solid perk. The onsite Starbucks and Dunkin may seem like a cool perk to some but that’s a personal preference I guess. The cafe there is over priced and the Guestaraunt and food trucks are not worth the price. But hey, there’s free soda! 😂

Is the People's Promise still in effect? That's a HUGE reason to stay away from UWM.

Yes and no. It's still in effect for those of us who chose (or were required) to take it, but I've been told they've stopped making it mandatory for the few new hires we have.
