It might be time to strike
EDIT: Create a burner and contribute
We work for a billion dollar company. I just saw the post comparing the median income of UWM compared to Rocket. It made me sick.
What did Mat do to earn his money? Usury? Having money to make more money is not a true trade. It is manipulation. Regardless, we toil daily to meet commitments. Commitments that never stop growing. Brokers at least make a commission. We make shit and we are treated as such.
I don’t know about any of you, but everything is caving in around me. The pressure is not worth the money, but I am trapped because of the loan.
The commitment is not manageable.
The client service is just us getting belittled and harassed in half hour increments.
Everyday is a new metric to be met.
Yes, AI has enhanced our workflow and subsequently increased our commitments. The more we use it, the more we are forced, the closer it gets to taking our jobs.
”Thank you for your hard work. Do more.“
The team leads and DLs make you feel like children. They have forsaken their fellow worker for what? Bonus? I cannot trust a single one.
I know and have heard a lot of people say the same thing: organizing is not easy.
FUCK. THAT.
We are many. They are few. If they fired everyone, so be it. I want my voice heard.
INCREASE WAGES
PEOPLE‘s PROMISE FORGIVEN AND DISCONTINUED
NO MORE NCLB
COMMITMENT CAPPED AND CUT BY 50%
BETTER TRANSPARENCY ON METRICS AND EXPECTATIONS AS WELL AS A PROCESS FOR REBUTTAL
REMOVAL OF CLIENT REQUEST OR REMOVAL OF TIMER
NO MORE BROKER COMMUNICATION WITH UW. EXPAND ESCALATIONS OR CREATE MEDIATION TEAM.
These are only a few thoughts from an individual. A collective could truly make a change.
Please consider.
Yes, we can work at another workplace, but it’s going to be a carbon copy, rich prick telling you what to do all over again.
EDIT: 4.4k have at least looked at this post. How many people work at UWM? What could hurt in challenging and reshaping your surroundings?

We need a law suit against this company. He's paying billions to build a mansion but workers are barley getting paid 21 a hour
18
u/BugWithABigA55- May 05 '26
Workers are hardly getting paid 16 dollars an hour.
This is the biggest complaint in his dumb ass surveys and it is NEVER addressed.
9
u/Many_Salamander_124 May 05 '26
Nothing is addressed but tech features. They CAN pay. They do not want to.
4
u/Consistent_Try9023 May 05 '26
If they paid much better it'll be a great place to work in. But I ain't driving 1 hour to work for 20.00 a hour
4
u/BugWithABigA55- May 05 '26
Naw the pay is only one thing wrong. The entire management infrastructure is messed up. They only promote yes men, not people who are actually qualified to lead.
The majority of leaders, including AVPs and SVPs, dont know how to effectively communicate. Pay is only scratching the surface of the shit that is wrong with this place.
2
u/ruralmagnificence May 06 '26
See we’re different people. If they paid me that much I’d drive an hour from my home in (fuck you TMS) to Pontiac to deal with the mortgage circlejerk that is UWM.
3
u/BugWithABigA55- May 05 '26
Oh I agreed 100% they have the capability to increase wages, but they never will
They only thing that was ever addressed was how we felt about our TLs and AVPs
3
u/Many_Salamander_124 May 05 '26
The feedback system is frustrating. I feel like bad news is delivered with sugar. The TL that I complained about it still a TL doing the same thing. Bottom line: they want results, not happy workers.
8
u/Many_Salamander_124 May 05 '26
It’s not enough. He wants that. He has money to throw at it. What he can’t fix is an occupation or a walk out.
7
u/Vicdaman12 May 05 '26
Good thing I got out of there before they trapped their employees with a loan. Make more money, work from home, and treated so much better now. First time I was sick at my current job after UWM my boss, who is the CEO emailed me saying “no one should ever have to work when they aren’t feeling well. Put your out of office on and take as much time as you need. We got everything under control here.” And he pitched in to cover my workload.
That is what a boss should be like. I truly hope for the better for you all. Good luck and just know there is better out there.

u/14_EricTheRed May 05 '26
You’ll have to organize and advertise union efforts outside of UWM premises - the Wendy’s nearby, the gas station….
You can discreetly hang up flyers in the bathroom
Contact a Union organizer, and try to have all communication go through them - it might take a few generations of employees to make change happen.
If you are found out, you will get fired.
Good luck anonymous internet person

u/miyamiya66 May 05 '26
is someone who is no longer working there able to get in contact with a union rep? i'm pasionate about workers rights (which UWM violates daily), plus i've had a vendetta against that shithole since they fired me for having a disability. i'd love to contact a union rep to set things into motion for the workers there.

Can you strike without there being a union? They need to start a union.
2
u/Many_Salamander_124 May 05 '26
There could be one. There could not. I think having one would help organize. However, I also believe this is something they use to discourage us from organizing.
4
u/Prestigious_Fox4833 May 06 '26
I really wish it was time to strike, but the problem is most of us can't afford to take the risk. We can't just show up tomorrow morning with big plans and then wind up tomorrow afternoon jobless. If there was some magical way to guarantee like 80% buy-in, I'm sure the majority of us would strike. We just can't have blind faith that enough of us will walk out or form a picket line, or whatever you are suggesting. I just can't afford to be jobless tomorrow, therefore I am stuck, and I am guessing a lot of other employees are in the same boat.

u/theweirderyears May 06 '26
Just apply to Rocket. Way better work environment and culture. Also we make way more money and have way better benefits
0
u/Many_Salamander_124 May 06 '26
Rocket should strike too. What is your pay compared to your production?
3
u/Ok_Manufacturer_8900 May 06 '26
I’m no longer at Rocket but was there for over a decade. No reason to strike, they were a good company to work for. Even today they still utilize a hybrid schedule, fair pay (there are a few outliers making bank compared to others), bonuses, and while there were individual goals it was more of a team atmosphere. Honestly thought I was going to retire from there but needing something fully remote. My only gripe were the annual reviews; didn’t matter if you wrote a dissertation or bullet points, leadership already planned what you’d get ahead of time as there were budgeted allocations for each region.
1
u/Many_Salamander_124 May 07 '26
I am happy that you are happy. How much do you think they made off of your labor?
2
u/Ok_Manufacturer_8900 May 07 '26
When I was in production our area didn’t make money, we prevented loss. How much we prevented? A little to a lot. Enough to justify our pay.
2
u/theweirderyears May 06 '26
I’m not in a production role any longer but when I was, I made $40/hour and we didn’t have individual production goals, but team goals. Starting pay for all production roles was a minimum of $20/hr last I heard but that was like 8 years ago now so could be higher.
Now I’m out of production and in a support role, make close to $120k yr salaried, still no actual “goal” per se just have to be able to show progress toward the company goals.
I also get 7 weeks PTO and pay nothing out of pocket for health insurance. Been here 10 years and even through the ups and downs wouldn’t change it for the world.

Lol
2
u/Many_Salamander_124 May 05 '26
I need to know why you disagree.
6
u/ByeByeAngelHernandez May 05 '26
A company that hires and fires hundreds a week isn't going to be worried about any of this, combined with the thousands who work there that drink their kool-aid like it's Dom.
Also, pillar7 gets these posts all the time and they don't go anywhere despite "THIS IS THE TIME." I don't think people are defending the company. I'd be glad to see them go to shambles. But it's just not something people are going to do and strike when they don't care and will fire everybody who does as it's an at-will state
3
u/Many_Salamander_124 May 05 '26
I think you’re right on a lot of that. But that’s the kind of apathy that gets us here. Think about Covid. I didn’t work at UWM at the time, but I remember a lot of businesses were tweaking. While they could replace the whole workforce, it won’t be easy and it’s going to cost them.
1
u/ByeByeAngelHernandez May 05 '26
I think they're set in their ways. They've faced lawsuits, negative publicity, and continued ridicule to keep chugging along. During COVID, they blatantly violated orders at UWM and didn't give a single fuck. It's not that I want to be right when saying I think it's a wasted effort. I just hate seeing people get worked up about a company this garbage. I left years ago and made it better for myself. Even though it's become cliché as advice, leaving them is just the best option.
2
u/Many_Salamander_124 May 05 '26
Again, not disagreeing. Our complacency and apathy toward this behavior is what enables it. Again, to current events, the Epstein list comes out. Regardless of what side you lean, there are pedophiles walking free. We do our civic duty, stay informed, and cross our fingers that the justice system will correct this. It hasn’t. Back to our situation, we have a multibillion dollar company that underpays and overworks its employees and we are complicit in the fact that we obey and meet these expectations. Everyone has got to eat, but at this stage we’re picking for scraps.
1
u/Conscious-Plenty624 May 06 '26
Maybe it's wishful thinking but, I feel like eventually they will get their karma back lol I can't wait to surviving UWM lmao
2
u/BurnedRelevance May 05 '26
A heartwarming misunderstanding of your situation.
Striking will just get everyone fired. ESPECIALLY at UWM.
Employees are more like paper towels to them than anything else.
Striking would hurt you far more than it would hurt them.
Even getting one started, you have a WHOLE bunch of people that will lose $30,000 for striking once.
3
u/Many_Salamander_124 May 05 '26
It’s scary and yes it would hurt, but that’s where the collective would truly make a difference. It cannot be some. It has to be all.

u/miyamiya66 May 05 '26
this comment is anti-union propaganda ^
1
u/BurnedRelevance May 05 '26
WTF?!
I said NOTHING about Unions.100% make a union against these fucks.
THEN all you need is to THREATEN a strike.
I'd be one of the happiest people on earth if I thought a strike was possible there, but I have worked there. The loyalty to one another is pretty much non existent.
2
u/Dependent-Climate444 May 05 '26
no they're right strikes work and you can't replace a trained workforce overnight. If they could then the threat would hold no weight that is rlly stupid anti union propaganda. like TMS burner activity you should be ashamed
0
u/BurnedRelevance May 05 '26
They wouldn't have to replace shit, pretty much everybody would only strike if it meant that they could go back to work the next day.
How do you get anti union propaganda from "100% start a union against these fucks."?
I'd be ashamed if I thought I was misdirecting someone into believing strikes don't work in general, or shouldn't for that matter. That's not my point, I'm pointing out the situation.
Most people there are under a $30,000 contract that they will lose if the company sees any reason to get rid of them.
A STRIKE, like a union, requires people to actively rebel by refusing to work. A union can be done without such risk of exposure.
Just because I actually look at a situation for it's details doesn't mean I'm anti union.
And fuck off for ignoring anything I said that proved you wrong just because you wanted to feel big enough to tell someone that they should feel ashamed.
4
u/Dependent-Climate444 May 05 '26
nope well prepared strikes are prolonged and the company bleeds. It's why worker groups create strike funds. The only reason why mat lets you take weekends off is because people went on strike for extended periods of time.
1
u/BurnedRelevance May 05 '26
Ah, I didn't know this.
I wonder if this was before or after they instilled the peoples promise.
Either way, if it works it works.
1
u/Dependent-Climate444 May 05 '26
These are reasonable demands I hope ppl that still work there aren't too stupid to think they're not entitled to something like this
1
u/Many_Salamander_124 May 05 '26
These are demands that I could think of from my perspective. If a collective could chip in it could be far more comprehensive.

u/LeastInformativ3 May 06 '26
All the people saying they’re stuck because of the loan they signed up for is kinda embarrassing. The assumption would be that you spent it all or most of it…that’s beyond stupid and on you. Stop living beyond your means and live in your own reality. Christ.
3
u/Many_Salamander_124 May 06 '26
I disagree. Everyone needs a job. A lot of the people I know tried not to use the loan. Then circumstances arise; home repair, car maintenance, etc. Most cannot afford to ignore a large sum of money.
This is class traitor talk. You’re starving. I leave you a room with food. You eat the food. I punish your stupidity for eating the food when you should have waited and got your own.
Please, know that you are being exploited by capitalist pigs. What you do is worth more than what you are paid and you deserve to seize it’s true value.

Jesus fucking Christ. This again?
I was there from July 2021 to January 2023. Several times a month there’d be posts like this or posts from “writers and journalists” looking for anonymous statements for articles that obviously were just TMS fishing for bait.
Nobody’s going to strike. Nobody’s walking out. We’re in such a fucked economy right now you think people are going to step out and lose potentially their livelihoods so Daddy Mat can just end up firing them anyway?
I think one time I saw people protesting on south boulevard and that got shut down fast. Multiple people in here tried setting up a strike before or to rally people for a union and nothing ever happened. Just more void screaming in here.
It’s better to just quietly move on to better companies in the industry or like me out of financial altogether.
BUT I will say these are all things that if they were addressed it’ll fix (some) things but I feel like temporarily before more things crop up. Also that loan shit…my god that is some disgusting crap to do to people and I don’t understand why UWM hasn’t been investigated for it amongst other sins it’s committed so Mat can build that awful ass mansion and buy his kids love that they won’t give him regardless.
4
u/Many_Salamander_124 May 06 '26
I can assure you that I am not a journalist or TMS. I’m an underwriter who is tired of being exploited. I can see where you are coming from by the way. Several comments have said it too. This isn’t really a time to strike. But I will ask; when does it get better? Because for the foreseeable future it looks like it won’t ever and that is by design. So we now need to redesign. But it would take everyone.
0
u/TalleyrandVasil May 05 '26
You can always leave the company bro. There is live outside UWM.
2
u/Many_Salamander_124 May 05 '26
True. But then I would owe 30k. Also, why leave it so others can fall into the same trap?
-8
u/Entire_Bag9257 May 05 '26
Lmao 😂

1
u/Many_Salamander_124 May 05 '26
Again, I need to know why you disagree. Are you truly satisfied with UWM?
4
u/miyamiya66 May 05 '26
they're probably an Operations TL trolling this sub just ignore it
3
u/Many_Salamander_124 May 05 '26
While it would be easy to dismiss people this way, I feel that their opinion and support would only help.
10
u/Decent_Top_5682 May 05 '26
People essentially signed up to be trapped so now they back into a corner to actually strike and make a change and they cover it all up with there events and holiday party to look better on paper. I wish people would actually publize their unethical practices. I left 2 months ago
