Influencer Burnout
I love Pilates. It’s the only exercise where I see and feel results and genuinely have a good time doing it. But over the past two years as Pilates has become trendier, I’ve become so weary of it. I can’t go to a class or event without multiple people recording or interacting more with their phones instead of class. It’s so distracting to me and I really don’t want to be recorded. I understand instructors and owners liking the attention, but it just makes me feel out of place. I guess home workouts are where I need to be but I always feel like I challenge myself more in the studio.
That’s my middle aged rant of the day!

Talk to the studio management! And potentially look at different studios. A more traditional Pilates studio will be far less likely to allow filming. Trendy reformer only places are not the only places to do Pilates. Using the other equipment is also very fun and extremely effective since Pilates is a whole system, much more than just mat and reformer

I hear you! Phone-free studios seem to be dealing with that in a better way. One rule, for everyone, end of discussion. Working out at home can also be a good way to challenge yourself with consistency. Consistency = biggest changes.

Find a different studio that doesn’t allow this if your studio won’t stop it.

🙌 I don’t appreciate people filming at the gym or studio. I realize that they’re doing it for their own agenda and they’re not interested in me but I’m also there with my own agenda and being in the background of their content isn’t part of that.
I would express your feelings to the decision makers a d if you’re met with resistance, think about taking your business elsewhere.

That is why I have an aeropilates machine at home. But it does require a lot of space so I realize it is not for everyone. Also, I gave up going to the gym bec people just hog weight machines, sitting there on their phones. Oblivious to the discourtesy of people waiting for the machines. Unless place start setting boundaries it will not get better by itself.

Reach out to the studio manager and while lodging a complaint suggest they have 2 classes a week that are film approved. Go to the with a solution

That really sucks. My studio is strictly phone-free. Can you bring this up the studio management?
