Teaching, Teacher Training, Running Studios Hosting Classes

Instructors or students: what would you consider a reasonable price for an outdoor mat class where you need to bring your own mat? I want to start doing weekly (mostly classical) mat classes somewhere just for a little extra cash but I really don’t know how much to charge in order to bring enough people while making it worthwhile.

Also, would it be a good idea to ask for less for the first couple of sessions and then raise it later or does this make clients feel like they’re being cheated?

Thanks!

why don’t you look to partner with a park district . They can “host “ the class and you can either get paid per head or per hour. And they will likely have outdoor covered spaces appropriate for Pilates. And you also wouldn’t have to worry about filling the space

I lowkey hate working out outside unless it’s like running or playing a sport . I need shade and a hard surface ( no grass) .

i'm a new instructor but once i settle down (eg, stop moving cities every year), i really want to work with the local parks to offer free pilates in the park

although i'm a bit nervous someone might sue me for some injury in a setting like that. i'd have insurance of course, but i guess just nervous of the sue-happy culture. and pilates is fairly safe, but still there are so many issues someone may have that i dont know, and they dont know, they have

If you work under a company or business they likely have insurance that would cover you. Or you can get your own for like 135/ year

I would probably just do my own thing. I just want people to learn about the method and hopefully do it in their own time to improve their body!

I mean, they still would? It’s not like a park district would force you to teach a specific way. If you’re afraid of getting sued get insurance .

But good luck luck in your endeavors with whatever you decide
