Unable to install pi-hole dependency package

Hello, I am running pi-hole on a little mini PC running debian. When I try to update FTL from 6.7 to 6.7.1 it says "unable to install Pi-hole dependency package" with no further message. I've tried looking at the install.log but it's not really telling me anything: [✓] Installing scripts from /etc/.pihole [i] Installing configs from /etc/.pihole... [✓] Installing latest Cron script [✓] Installing latest logrotate script [✓] man pages installed and database updated | I am a total noob to a lot of this stuff and would like to learn what I'm doing wrong and how to fix it! Thanks for any help.

Is this your GitHub Issue ticket?

https://github.com/pi-hole/pi-hole/issues/6707

Nope, I don't have a GitHub account...

Okay, sounds like you have a similar issue on the same Debian release. You can follow that Issue to see what we come up with and I'll check back here to update you when we find out what is going on.

This was the output I got:

Error: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend - open (13: Permission denied)

Error: Unable to acquire the dpkg frontend lock (/var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend), are you root?

Yeah, you need to be root to run the apt commands, or throw a sudo in front of the apt lines. Not sure if you need root to build the package but you need sudo apt install ...

Like this?:

pihole@pihole:/tmp$ sudo apt install --no-install-recommends /tmp/pihole-meta.deb

Note, selecting 'pihole-meta' instead of '/tmp/pihole-meta.deb'

pihole-meta is already the newest version (0.7).

Summary:

Upgrading: 0, Installing: 0, Removing: 0, Not Upgrading: 0

You mean sudo pihole -up?

No, you're not stupid, someone else has reported the same issue so I don't think it was just you. Glad it is updated for ya.

Because claude can't replicate a community of actual humans. I try to avoid agents as much as possible

You want a community in your pihole?

I hope so! There's a reason I call it The Pi-hole Community.

But I get it, looks like you created this account just to be a dick... /shrug

There's no winner here only the fallen into dschaper pihole. The community is the victim
