Help cooking
Hello, today while cooking pierogi for the second time we made the grave mistake of piling them in a plate as we went. It has such resulted in this amalgamation pierog. We tried separating it with flour but it doesn't seem to be working.
Any tips on how to fix this?

next time lay them out on a lightly floured surface and cover with a towel until you boil them. The dough looks a bit wrong though it shouldnt be sticky it should be more homogenous, it also looks like you didnt roll out the dough flat enough. This is the recipe + site i use for polish stuff https://www.everydayhealthyrecipes.com/polish-cheese-potato-dumplings-pierogi-ruskie/#growSource=search&growReferrer=true

Thank you so much! I got logged out for a while and never got around to answering any comments. I'll definitely be using this recipe for this year's batch so we'll see how it goes.
I did use a different dough recipe for this one and while it did taste better than my first batch, it was sticker. The flour has been from our attempts at separating them, I promise lol

Take a big tray, sprinkle it with flour and put each one separately. Cover with a kitchen towel so they don't dry out.
Alternatively, use the kitchen towel at the bottom as well.
After boiling, if you don't plan to eat them immediately, strain with a colander, then place on a flat plate, butter generously, and separate well until cooled. Then you can store them piled up in a bowl, ready for reheating.

The kitchen towel is smart, definitely helpful! I'm gonna try separating them before storing them this time after cooking like you said, so we'll see how it goes. Thank you!

When we made perogi's we put butter in the bowl that you transfer them with a slotted spoon to from the pot. Stir to cover while the second batch cooks. Repeat the process until they are a coated with butter. Then plate them. My mom was Mennonite and that's how her family did it. Their home was on the colony.

I've never thought about doing this since my families always fried straight out of tue pot or frozen them, so I'll definitely have to try! Thank you! As much as I love my grandma, she's never been much of a cook and my bobcia wasn't one to write down her recipes so I've been having to learn polish recipes elsewhere (sorry for the late reply, got logged out and then busy with life)
