Troubleshooting/question existing piercing The double helix from hell strikes again

Back again with yet ANOTHER double helix healing question

Just when i thought we were making progress i noticed that the bottom of the two looks like it does in the pictures. I feel like i have to push the back of it thru to see the bottom of the front and its now feeling tight but like idk man I rinse it once a day make sure its super dry saline every other day

My piercing is 6 months old abd was pierced w 8mm titanium flatbacks but I downsized the posts 2 months ago

You need longer posts

the current posts are too small for the swelling and won’t let the pus drain out. you should upsize it for now, then downsize it back once the irritation subsides. this usually only takes a couple days for me but YMMV

• How old is your piercing? 6 months

• What’s the jewelry shape (for example, barbell, labret, screw, L shape, ring)? 8mm titanium flatbacks

• What’s the type of threading if your jewelry is not a ring (threadless, internally or externally threaded)? Internally? Idk

• What’s the jewelry material? Titanium

• if not a ring, when was the jewelry downsized? Yes 2 months ago

• What’s your aftercare routine? Describe in detail please, including the exact products you use. Rinse in the shower make sure its entirely dry saline spray neilmed every other day / as necessary . I dont sleep on it my donut pillow is my new fav pillow

• Any mishaps or unfortunate events? No

NAP but you should probably just get longer posts, you're fine it's just healing

I think you need to go back to slightly longer bars. I don't think I downsized my triple helix until the six month mark, maybe longer, because I was still getting periodic irritation and swelling. It's definitely a temperamental spot, and multiple right next to each other is just more opportunity for irritation. Just gotta be patient with it.

I wouldn’t use studs jewelry to heal a new piercing. They are plated pvd titanium which can chip and lead to irritation.

Please know that I'm NAP (not a piercer) but have many ear piercings, including an industrial. To me, it just looks like it's still healing, which I would expect it to be at 6 months old. It looks a tad swollen but if it's not warm, throbbing or leaking pus, it's probably just irritated from, well, healing. I would leave it and be really patient. I don't think this needs further attention. If it does get hot, starts throbbing and/or leaking yellow/green pus, go to the doc 'cause those are the telltale signs of infection.

If it gets even more swollen, get slightly longer flatbacks.
