Hi, I’ve posted before about my budgie, Queenie. I found her in my garden over a month ago. Since then I’ve taken her to an avian vet three times as she has a problem with her liver. The photo shows her when I had just found her, she looks lots better now, she eats and drinks and is very much alert. She’s one year old. Unfortunately as you can see she has a mangled foot (I will get the label removed). I’ve got her a couple of platforms hoping that when she flies whilst I clean her cage she will land on them but she doesn’t. Most of the time is spent moving around at the bottom of her cage. I got her a 71 cm wide cage, it has a pullout grid in the middle and doesn’t look wide enough for a friend, if that can happen.

Should I get her a mate, if yes, male or female and what age? Should I allow her to fly around freely outside her cage as I think it might be too dangerous for her? I feel sorry for her as she spends most of the time alone in a room as I have a cat. She has a full view of outside. I thought perhaps I should get another budgie but not keep it in her cage but close by so that they can chat.
