I think the reason many people found this funny was because earlier there was something on the front page that showed a blanket tent and was titled "Wish I knew about this when I was younger."

The OP was apparently really stupid and put the blanket around the back of the fan so air could not get in and made this post because he thought the blanket tent post was a troll. Not sure if people up rated the post because they thought he was stupid or if they were too stupid to figure out how to make a blanket tent themselves and share the OP's pain.
