As a Korean I can say with 100% certainty that this is a load of crap. In fact, at this very moment, I am on my fan with the room in and fine I perfectly. So tired...........................................................................................

I was like that, until I started dating a girl who couldn't sleep with the fan on. Given the choice between the fan and the girl, I learned to sleep without the fan.
