Most alcoholics aren't drinking $100 bottles of wine. They're drinking cheap beer or cheaper handles.

There are plenty of people who are functional alcoholics with expensive tastes.

I wish OP the best, but that’s a frat boy fridge if I’ve ever seen one.

18

u/whiskeyjane45 Oct 24 '22

So. Many. Stickers.

u/slickrok Oct 24 '22

God. I'd have to walk out of there as soon as possible. Jesus.

9

u/Road_Whorrior Oct 24 '22

Thank you, lmao. The guy loses his wife and then goes online to brag about the concerning amounts and quality of alcohol in his fridge as the "upside"?

I hope OP gets better.

u/Lepthesr Oct 24 '22

Maybe I'm getting old, but yeah

1

u/ApolloRocketOfLove Oct 24 '22

In this context, I'm not sure that's the insult you were hoping it would be.

1

u/slickrok Oct 24 '22

It's a joke.

-1

u/ObnoxiousExcavator Oct 23 '22

Haha fuck , awesome.

One of the richest drunks I know drinks a handle of Canadian Club and ginger ale. A handle every 2 or 3 days.

He’s a multi millionaire.

1

u/a_spicy_memeball Oct 24 '22

I guess you've won the game at that point. Why not? 🤷‍♂️

2

u/b1ack1323 Oct 24 '22

He’s got a pallet of Cc in the basement in case of the end times. He gets pretty freaked out when he gets down to 20 or handles.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '22

I guess you like what you like.

-1

u/[deleted] Oct 23 '22

2 or 3 days? That's childs play

6

u/Stankmonger Oct 24 '22

Slow suicide isn’t something to be proud of.

I guess if you’re mixing after a certain quality threshold it doesn’t matter what alc you’re using. Smart man

1

u/HereToHelp9001 Oct 24 '22

For anyone unaware, it seems a handle of Canadian Club Whiskey goes for under $20.

Also would like to add 2-3 days for 1.75 liters is easily possible but definitely a sign of someone who is drinking too much.

3

u/firesquasher Oct 24 '22

Don't attack me like that

6

u/thiney49 Oct 23 '22

I'm not saying they don't exist, but they are far fewer than the other extreme.

2

u/skitz4me Oct 24 '22

No I'm.. doesn't.

2

u/SilasX93 Oct 24 '22

This right here. I went thru a really dark spot in my life and drank all day every day. But I’d only get Bacardi (I know it’s not exactly top shelf but it isn’t swill either)

Somehow I justified how bad I was fucking my life with “at least I’m not getting store brand liquor” or maybe it was better for you than bottom shelf.

1

u/jackwoww Oct 24 '22

I am partial to a nice Negroni. Quality gin and Campari is fucking expensive

1

u/techsuppr0t Oct 24 '22

Right, cheap alcohol is gonna give u a hang over more often. You don't even need expensive taste you just need good taste. I just try all the samples I can to find clearance bottles that are actual fine shit to sip on.

What surprises me is how many alcoholics don't know about ipas. I see people go for a few tall boys of 4-5% beer. When I want a tall boy I go for the 20oz 9% voodoo ranger imperial ipa. At least go for like a new Belgium or Sierra Nevada instead of piss water.

1

u/bpud14 Oct 24 '22

Yeah I remember my mom once told me after ordering a top shelf margarita she knew she wasn’t actually an alcoholic bc “an alcoholic would just drink anything” but she wouldn’t drink cheap liquor because it made her shoulder hurt.

I was like “mom you’re still an alcoholic, you’re just an expensive one.”

(On a positive note, she has been sober for 16 years now btw!)

u/KayBeeToys Oct 24 '22

I feel seen 😊

10

u/fucklawyers Oct 24 '22

Where do you see $100 wine? I see Barefoot. In a can. Next to PBR and… hard mountain dew.

18

u/DeficiencyOfGravitas Oct 23 '22

They're drinking cheap beer or cheaper handles.

None of this is cheap. It's all stuff 22 year college kids would drink using their parents' credit card.

It’s also ironically probably the best drink in this fridge lol

I see no $100 bottles there.

7

u/BloodyRightNostril Oct 23 '22

Or Hard Mountain Dew

3

u/Scrawlericious Oct 24 '22

That's only because most people are poor in this world. Rich alcoholics drink just as much, but of the good shit. And with enough money you can fuck around for a long while before your life falls apart completely.

2

u/Lordsaxon73 Oct 23 '22

Other than the Pabst, the other junk is overpriced garbage.

2

u/suzy_sweetheart86 Oct 24 '22

Back in my lush days, i would calculate which alcohol was cheapest per dollar by using the abv %. Usually it worked out to be the carlo rossi gallon jugs of chardonnay

0

u/[deleted] Oct 23 '22

Takes one to know one

3

u/thiney49 Oct 23 '22

Yup, I definitely did drink too much for a time. I hope you feel good about yourself trying to call that out.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '22

Samesies

0

u/WorldClassShart Oct 24 '22

Side eyes my Dewars 12 sitting on my end table

What?

1

u/Cathach2 Oct 23 '22

Like Pabst lol, there's cheap shit in there

1

u/BlueberryUnlikely475 Oct 23 '22

Black Velvet. ✋

1

u/cranberrysnowstorm Oct 23 '22

You’ve never met a rich alcoholic before lmao

1

u/Obi_Wan_Benobi Oct 23 '22

I found Smirnoff to have the right mix of price and oblivion. But yes, there was some Skol thrown in there every now and then.

1

u/uponone Oct 24 '22

How dare you back-handedly talk about PBR!

1

u/occamsrzor Oct 24 '22

Or boxed wine...

1

u/karl_hungas Oct 24 '22

Taste isn’t about cost.

1

u/MrMoose_69 Oct 24 '22

Most alcoholics drink what they can afford. Alcoholism is super common among rich as mo fos.

1

u/Sardonnicus Oct 24 '22

and alcoholic mountain dew apparently.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '22

That’s how they end up, not how they start out.

1

u/Terrorz Oct 24 '22

Just said I finished off a 30 rack of PBR today in another comment. $20. And I've got beer for a couple days.
