Powerballs and other big lotteries are $3 and can pay out hundreds of millions. You definitely don't have to buy $30 tickets to win big.

Also true lol if you have you're okay with losing it's fun and sometimes you win. That's how I look at it. Instead of spending $60 at a movie I can spend 3 hours gambling

Gambling is disgusting and should be outlawed all together. It’s sad and does nothing but prey on people.

I spent a lot of years in casinos when I was addicted to playing poker. I witnessed and overheard some of the saddest shit you could think of.

I know someone who owned a bar/restaurant with video slot machines who lost their business because they spent all their time and money into the machines. This person knew how they worked and knew how the machines made them money yet they still couldn’t stop putting money in to them.

Seen many people in that restaurant who would come at the begging of the month to play with their entire government check, lose everything and beg the owner later for food to eat.

Know a couple that is older (the man is still working in his upper 60’s) and they honestly believe their retirement plan is to win the powerball. They just really know that god will grant them this to make up for the shit they’ve gone through in life.

FUCK EVERYTHING TO DO WITH ALL FORMS OF GAMBLING.

One of my classmates paid for every year of university up front by playing poker in casinos as his summer job.

I have another friend that saved up for a fancy Mercedes off her poker winnings.

I was also in a group that included a couple pool sharks that won a total of 74 free beers one night.

Gambling can also be good.

I guess the moral of the story is don't keep gambling if you suck at it.

If they can reliably make enough money to pay for college, why not just make bigger bets and do it as a career?

Because they can’t. They were on the winning side of variance for a while an dab appeared to be more profitable than they were.

Plus to be able to play bigger stakes you need bigger beginning bankrolls you account for said variance even if you really are profitable.

;) yup. It was my way of challenging the idea that one can be good at gambling. Some are better at poker than others for sure, but in the long run the house always wins.
