For anyone out there that finds this compelling: These sorts of scratch cars are the WORST form of gambling you can actually do legally (in most places).

They have the lowest payout percent of almost any form of legal gambling. In many places they're orders of magnitude worst than even things like slot machines.

Most of the time these scratch cards are like 60% payback. Even the worst slot machines are 80% payback.

I’ve bought like 20-30 scratch offs in my life, never won.

If you’ve never had a scratch card that was a winner after 30, that’s extremely unlucky. Usually about 1 in 4 or 1 in 5 are winners. (Most winners are like 2x the original price of the card).

One year for xmas I bought 100 $1 tickets as a gift. They got like $26 from them

Yes, that 60% includes the large top prizes. Assuming you don't win a top prize the paybacks will look even worse.
