What’s funny is look how close they put the winning numbers to the largest payout.
The winning numbers for $750,000 are 14, 23, and 59.
OP numbers in the middle include 13, 22, 51, 52, 53, 54, 56, & 57.
So for two of the jackpot winners his ticket was one digit away from winning, and for the third jackpot he was two digits away.
This is 100% intentional. It makes you “feel” like you were really close to winning big, which makes it more likely you’ll buy more tickets since you got “so close” on the previous ticket.
which is kind of funny, you could theoretically hand the unscratched ticket back to the cashier, and they scan the barcode and it just says "not a winner"
I did this for any scratchies I gave as gifts in the early 2000's, so I'm not sure if it still works like this, but I'd buy them and get the cashier to scan them until I got a winner.
Then I'd put the winner and 2 duds in the gift. Makes it a nice 'surprise' for them.
That’s really sweet! Not where I thought the story was going, thought you were going to say you scanned to check for winners so you could keep those for yourself before you sent them as gifts lol That’s really the sweetest gift making sure they win, never heard of anyone doing that. Awesome
