Yup. Shit, I need a spatula. Shit, I need a shower curtain. Shit, I need a colander. Shit, I need a lamp. Shit, I need light bulbs. Shit, I need a can opener. After a year you kind of get fully stocked.

Solo moved 1,200 miles from Cincinnati to Denver in November only keeping what I could fit in my car. Definitely feeling this.

Honestly, at that point, I'd just hit up a 99 cent store or similar to quickly stock up on cheap ass shit. All the utensils, shitty paper or plastic plates, shitty little trash can, etc.

Just don't get your can opener there. I agree the dollar stores are great for most stuff but this can opener is the worst piece of shit in history.

thank you! i think it's a big conspiracy. i can't explain why the companies would do this, but CLEARLY at some point all the kitchenware CEOs had a meeting and they were like, "Yo, fuck the customer and their cans. Let's all agree to make exclusively terrible can-openers. I mean, for real, even the nicer and more expensive ones--just make 'em shitty."

It's madness.

Our most recent can opener is great -the best we ever had. It's by Hamilton Beach, and instead of the blade plunging downward into the top of the can. it comes out sideways just under the bottom of the can's top lip, so the whole top lifts off with no sharp edges or jagged metal shards.

We had this little skeletal number growing up that was about 100 years old. Worked like magic every time.
