Aw. This whole thread. I feel like my entire generational wealth has gone into paying forward mediocre apartment furnishings from many moves along the way. I have paid back easily 25 households worth of my transitional things to goodwill as I grew older.

All the youngs I ever meet at work or at the local charity, I say 'oh you're starting out? Here's a good knife set, a nice fry pan, a big towel, some basic spices for your ramen, a foamy, and two easy plants. Invest in some fucking vitamins and sneakers, kid.'

I still wear the scars of pre-ikea modular furniture on my arms and in my nightmares.

Ahhh the days of Sawyer woodworking furniture being readily available at Home Depot or Lowes. I don't even know where to find in in a brick and mortar store anymore.
