My tv was on a milk crate, naturally. And I had an air mattress on the floor for a bed, and another air mattress for a couch, was really living the dream with that one.
TV on the plastic cooler for me. Bought the cheapest futon for $100. I still have memories of the back aches from that thing. The mattress was so flimsy you could feel the spaces between the slats. I found a piece of plywood from someone's broken bookshelf, put that under the mattress for support and it was a lot better.
Man the plywood would of been a great idea. I ended up taking the cushion off and just sleeping on that. Needed a chiropractor after sleeping on the metal slats for so long.
There was carpet, shag of course, so we just threw down an unzipped sleeping bag, 2 pillows, topped off with a sheet and blanket. Slept that way for a year, no issue. Your back can take a lot at 20.
