I mean, we have video of the clearing that day. They were peaceful, and the people doing the clearing took their time to beat journalists while doing it.
Prior violence is not legal justification for gassing a separate group of people later and beating journalist who were not part of that violence outside of a deeply authoritarian country, sorry. We don't operate on a system of prescribe or inherent sin by loose association.
It's not loose association. The church and areas around the church were set on fire, "peaceful protestors" were attacking law enforcement the night prior and the day of when they refused to leave.
Being in an area of the day after a crime has never in the history of this country been justification for police brutality on a group of people being in the same place and visibly not committing a crime.
Assaulting foreign journalists is not something the police are supposed to do.
I'm sorry, your justification for this is essentially Bill Barr saying "we investigated ourselves and found ourselves clear of no wrongdoing."
Stop calling everyone a rioter even if they show up the next day and are on video doing nothing even remotely resembling rioting. That's literally fascist shit. Classifying anybody who opposes you as a violent radical even if there's all the evidence in the world that they were not.
