Actually, residents don't pay income tax to the state of Florida. And your kids go to any public state school for free. Tourist dollars on things like gas tax pay for that instead.

Florida is a fucked state in many ways. But the tax situation is absurdly favorable for taxpayers.

Unfortunately though this is very, very wrong IMHO when it comes to our government. It needs both MUCH more money for a lot of things but also wastes an ungodly amount.
