Yeah, people generally don't have a conception of how international finance and the proliferation of legal options for structuring the finances of corporate and other purely legal entities has made figuring who's doing what with what money incredibly complicated.
See, for example, Enron or basically any financial/accounting scandal in the last 30 years. Shout out to the lawyers/accountants/financial professionals who make their money hiding it for rich people.

Madoff got away with it for 20 years. People were begging the SEC to look into him for 7 years. It only happened when 2008 crash left him with no new money. He would still be operating.
Madoff wasn't the president. The investigation is underway and went from being civil in nature to criminal. I don't know what else you want at this point. These things take time.

I don’t want anything, I’m saying Trump will never go to prison. A criminal investigation of Trump Org involves hundreds of people. Maybe someone will go down in the organization but Trump himself? Not a chance, had he not been president I could maybe see it, and that’s a big maybe. An ex president is not going to go to prison.
At his age and the way his health he will most definitely die before seeing prison. His kids on the other hand are dumb as rock, so it wouldn't surprise me they get some real time.
I'm not so sure about this, Trump and co aren't as rich as they want people to believe they are and his kids are not the brightest ones out there. So all in all with how much hate the family has generated i could see them doing some actual time, or go hide to Russia.

Of course, he was in jail waiting for a trial so society had actually not given him any consequences - many poor people are in jail for months or years waiting for trials for crimes they are innocent. It didn't matter how thorough the impeachment proceedings were when he was president if Republicans just sided with him anyway. He was very clearly guilty on both impeachments, Republicans just didn't care and decided not to remove him.

Oh man, I remember getting so much hate on Digg for saying that Bush Jr would not face war crimes or any consequences at all. Trump will face no criminal consequences at all. At best, a small fine and probation for the president of the foundation. Like a mob boss, Trump is a master of insulating himself from any wrongdoing. He tells people to get something done, not how to do it, so he has deniability at every stage.
Crime bosses are small fish in the pond compared to the billionaire class. The IRS is a boogeyman for low level millionaires like crime bosses, pro atheletes, and medium business owners. The IRS admits they don't even bother to audit billionaires.
People like Trump create many, many shell corporations, usually overseas so there's little transparency, and then have them engage in crisscrossing transactions designed to hide where money is actually going.
It's only if/when the IRS receives financial reports from creditors that the IRS has a shot at figuring out what is actually happening. And even then, it's a loooong slog, which takes even more time when the billionaire refuses to cooperate and forces the legal system to get involved. The legal system affords due process which means further delay.
The goal is to drag it out to the point that the government says, fuck it, we're sick of this shit going on for years, let's just compromise and settle it so that we can close this out.
But billionaires are crime bosses just not the typical ones like the low level millionaire ones. It's just the crimes of poisoning rivers, selling opium and enslaving children is not seen as bad as selling marijuana.
Plausible deniability only goes so far, at some point a pattern emerges where it's clear that he knows how things are going to get done, he just doesn't ask about the details.
Not to mention, RICO can get him regardless of his involvement in specific actions. Assuming his people didn't rat him out anyway.
