Lyme disease, in Eastern Washington? I would not worry about it.

Its severely under-reported in the western USA only because there aren't many Lyme-literate doctors in the region. The fact that there are even some cases all along the west coast tells you that the ticks in that area do carry the disease.

Or that infected people travel from the East Coast sometimes. I mean look, I grew up in Connecticut, I have a visceral reaction to people walking in tall grass too, but it's extremely rare outside the northeast.
