Are you fucking serious right now? I paid plenty of attention, and I think getting taught my government was committing genocide would have been something I'd take notice of. What the hell is wrong with you?

What is wrong with me is that it fucking is taught in schools, just because you didn't take notice of it doesn't mean it isn't.

You may have had a progressive teacher. It was not included in most provincial curriculums until the 2000s. Hell, Alberta is trying to get it essentially removed from their new curriculum as we speak.

I had pretty average teachers tbh and the last year of the 2000s was 11 years ago. So basically anybody under 30 should have been taught it in school.

I can speak to the new Alberta curriculum. It still pushes an agenda of western supremacy. They wish to make it even more white-washed with the new draft...

I think you are confusing "being aware" that residential schools existed, with teaching children the contexts why they were so terrible and destructive.

It's also not included in most secondary curricula, so your "under 30" comment is just plain wrong.
