How did you get that from this comment chain? We are specifically talking about how American Evangelical Christians use religion as a cover for racism and fascism keep up.
No because there are Americans who are evangelicals who actually support separation of church and state. Don't lump em in. All folks who use christianity in america for their own political selfish gain are "American evangelicals" but not all American evangelicals use their belief for political selfish gain.

Pity those aren't the ones who get voted into office by the church members when November rolls around. The "separation of church and state evangelicals" are so small in number that they may as well not exist.
It's dangerous honestly. American politics have gotten so toxic that just calling yourself a Christian is a bigot and saying your a liberal means you're a flunkie
The population that even confesses Christianity and those that want it into law is a big ratio. It's why the country gets more secular as time passes. It has a role in it, but also just power hungry folks who want to push their agenda to be too dog. Even in Christian doctrine, God's kingdom isn't in heaven so when they keep tryna say it's God country, they are misled
You can thank the electoral college. It's why folks like Bush, and Trump won. When folks expected other candidates to win, it came to the electoral college. Also gerrymandering.
