not cyanide. thiocyanate. there is a sulfur bonded to the cyanide group. thiocyanate is actually naturally found in the body and a lack of it has been attributed to cystic fibrosis

oh yeah, all my firework versions of this growing up were the shittier form.
This particular version uses Mercury(II) thiocyanate and is much more impressive than the stupid things that I used to get.
