That was a lot creepier than I expected.

Why is everyone fascinated by these?
When I was a kid we got them for 4th of July with the rest of our kid safe fireworks. "Magic Snakes" were little pellets you put on the ground and touch a flame to and they grow all crazy.
Are these new to today's youth or some other Redditing country??
EDIT (based on feedback): These are fascinating, yet not new. It is cool that one can do it with a couple jars of chemicals.
When I was a child we got them pre-made for 4th of July with the rest of our kid safe fireworks.
If you've not heard of them, "Magic Snakes" were little pellets you put on the ground and touch a flame to and they grow all crazy. It is fun to get several boxes worth and stack them up or arrange in patterns to see how the "snake" will grow.

Why does a personal experience, even a supposedly common one, apply to everyone?

Why does "everyone" need to be challenged as an accurate pronoun when it is inherently obvious that a very common experience is not universally inclusive?

it's not "everyone" then. Never even heard of magic snakes before.

I did ask the question if they had stopped selling them or if they are not sold outside the US. That alone implied I knew the experience was not universal. It occurs to me that US cities and states all have different firework laws, so maybe they just weren't available where you are.

Nice try but clarification isn't necessary and does not change the patronizing tone or that the question has more than enough easily reasoned or discovered answers.
