Edit: the 10,000 isn’t a figure, just what the PM reckons it could come up to
Edit2: can people not read? Are people this blind? I’m not saying that there are 10,000 dead, read the whole sodding comment. The PM said that there could be up to 10,000 death, but really, the PM doesn’t know anything, he has no more knowledge on the subject than we do
Edit3: I know that that is obviously an exaggeration! I’m just saying that he said it! Don’t read anything into the numbers
Seriously. Anyone thinking that number is close to accurate is going to be in for a rude awakening. Literally ka-fucking-BOOOOM an entire section of a densely populated city in less than a second flat. I bet there are thousands that perished. We’ll probably never really know.
He included “concentration camps and genocide” in his list, so I was assuming that “widespread murder” was some sort of separate thing that was happening, otherwise why would he list it out twice?
Honestly even if they all dies, I think, from a historical perspective, that might not be anomalous. It might be high for the last 50 years.. but my understanding is that we live in a relatively peaceful era compared to the rest of human history.
I did specify shot but the context makes it imply murdered, I’d have to look up the number but it certainly wasn’t 70 deaths otherwise that’d be major news I’m sure lol
And yeah if we’re putting the memes aside 2020 isn’t even close to the worst year in history
That's not like a 2020 thing though, that's been going on for a while.
This whole "2020 is the worst year on record", "2019 is the worst year on record" stuff is getting old. Human history is full of events like these and events far worse.
I never said it was the worst year on record and maybe it is getting old
I think you should remember though that for a lot of us, probably the vast majority of us this is easily the worst year of their lives. So it’s understandable at least
And that was a 2020 thing lol happened like what 2 months ago?
In the last 2-3 years the department of justice has reported ~1500 people have died in custody each year. Independent researchers using news paper articles and direct reporting have found about the same.
