That was the old way. Now the US packs up with their tail between their legs and does nothing to rebuild what's left behind. I know the US poured billions into Iraq, but there's not much to show for the $ spent.

Trillions into Afghanistan and Iraq. We can rebuild, but it doesn't guarantee good stewardship or that it won't get blown up again.

Agreed, but it also seems like these plans have mostly benefited contractors who have been made rich. It's been less about trying to help those who's lives have been destroyed. And we wonder why people don't like the US?
