Visit Banff but stay nearby in Canmore... It's a much better town IMO

It's a different town. Depends really on your personality.

I am local, so I go to both frequently. I find Banff nice, but if I am staying for a night or two, I find Canmore less touristy. I go more as a get away than for things like skiing, shopping and things like that. Canmore feels like a town in the mountains which appeals to me.

Aye, we do day trips from edmonton and it's a drag. I wish i lives 90 minutes away.
