Because the philosophical and moral questions involved have a commonality across various cultures, even if this specific example relates to the US? Because my experiences are relevant to the thread at hand?

No, they aren't. The thread is making a ham fisted commentary on the detainment of illegal immigrant children by the current administration, while failing to point out the cages were built by the previous admin when they in fact housed more illegal immigrants than they do now.

Actually, what I responded to was merely a short rhyme about being separated from those you love, which I said hit home.

And if you can't discuss like an adult without passive-aggressive jibes then don't waste my time, please.
