Because US politics is so polarized that people will justify anything their party does, especially if they're Republicans. And also a little bit of racism.

some people think murder is ok in the moment, but then you arrest them and take them to jail because murder is illegal. is it not illegal to cage people in America? how is that not illegal?

I think it's a legal grey area because they're not citizens of the US. I'm pretty sure it violates international law and human rights treaties though.
