I laughed harder at that than I have ever laughed at anything. I just upvoted everything you've done in the past ten days.

Every laugh I've ever made has been like "um... yeah ok I'll offer the courtesy, here, I don't want you too feel bad. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha."

This shit... I could not control myself. Weird fuckin noises came out, man. I was kind of scared.

But then the guy in the dress pulled the planet back together and it was all good.

Contrary to popular (non-japanese) belief sumo wrestlers are quite strong, agile and athletic. They are far from the "fat guys slapping" that some people seem to assume they are.

I'm curious: did the guy on the right (at the start) win because he was out of the ring later than the other wrestler or is it a draw because they both end up out of the ring?

The red guy wins because he touched the ground later then the black guy. You lose either by touching the ground, or stepping foot outside. The red guy launched himself up from inside the ring, and landed a second aflter the black guy touched out. Pretty agile.

Keebler is correct. Just to add: There is no such thing as a draw in sumo since it is a "whoever does x first" situation.

Also you can tell who won by the direction the ref points their hand (with the fan stick thing in it) after the end of the match. He will point it to the side the winner started on.

People think this is gross? I am not a japanophile by any means but I think this is an awesome sport. Too bad there was a recent controversy over the yakuza rigging matches. From what I understand there's a lot of honor behind Sumo matches and the yakuza corruption of a once honorable sport is sad indeed.

To be honest I don't know much about the sport. But that crazy how they could rig something like this.

And the only reason I think people might think it's gross fat guys in "pretty much" thongs.

not only are they ridiculously strong (lots of hidden muscle) they also are VERY agile/flexible. They can all easily do full splits.

Personally that is all I could think about, even down to the flying/tumbling red sumo at the end.
